Not sure about that.

Embassy of the United States of America

Consular Section, Immigrant Visa Unit

Bogotá, Colombia

APPOINTMENT PACKAGE – IMMIGRANT VISAS (Packet 3/4)

This packet is intended only for individuals who are already scheduled for an immigrant visa interview. If you have not received an appointment scheduling letter from the National Visa Center or the Embassy, you should wait for that letter before you follow these steps. Please note that immigrant visa interviews for residents of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao are being scheduled at the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá starting in January 2017.

For residents of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao: please see page 5 for instructions.

FIRST: Register date and time of your visa interview and arrange for visa delivery at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-co/iv. When prompted, schedule your fingerprint appointment with our “Applicant Service Center” (ASC) by selecting one of the available dates. You must attend this appointment. Register every family member applying for a visa, by clicking on “Add applicant.” IF YOU DO NOT REGISTER, ATTEND YOUR FINGERPRINT APPOINTMENT AND SELECT A DELIVERY LOCATION, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE CONSULAR SECTION FOR YOUR INTERVIEW; AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO REBOOK A NEW APPOINTMENT. You may contact our Visa Information Center at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-co/iv/information/contact_us or by phone in Colombia at (571) 5086214 - (571) 5086215 or in the United States: (1)7034392325 for assistance with this process.

SECOND: Complete the medical examination. See attached Instructions for Medical Examinations.

THIRD: Attend the interview.

 Fill out a DS-260 Online Immigrant Visa Application and Registration (available at https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx) for each family member. NOTE: If you have already filled out this online form you do not need to fill it out again.

 Arrive at the embassy no later than your scheduled appointment time. The visa interview process may take several hours. Our waiting room is outside and Bogota can get cold. Please dress accordingly.

 Make sure that everyone listed on the appointment letter brings all required documents to the appointment. Arrange documents in the exact order found on the attached List of Documents.

VISA PAYMENT: If the petitioner has not yet paid the nonrefundable visa application fee (or you are not sure if they have paid), come prepared to pay this fee (in most cases, the fee will be $325 U.S. dollars) on the day of the interview. The Embassy accepts international credit cards displaying the Visa or MasterCard logo and debit cards from any other country except Colombia. Please note that the U.S. banking system does not use the ‘cuota’ system, which means that credit cards will be charged the entire amount in one installment. The Embassy DOES NOT accept U.S. $100 bills, imperfect bills or checks.

Sorry to bust your bubble but that is the immigrant visa fee not the k-1

YMMV

In South Africa it is listed as $240 according to their website. I don't think it is $265 across the board.

It is $265 across the board.   SA website is out of date,  it also says the petition fee is $340. I can't even remember how long ago that fee was in place

Yes, I saw that too. As I said the person applying for the K-1 in Colombia share that information. Once I found the post, as I said, I´ll share.

The embassy sent out the wrong packet, I guarantee it

If so, it will be good surprise when

Actually if they follow the instructions they will pay the wrong fee because it will show instructions for filling out the ds-260 instead of the ds-160

I stand corrected. Thanks for pointing this out.

For those wondering here is where I found more information. The K-Visa fee is listed right before the "Border crossing card fees" section.

Hi All, just a question regarding the Affadavit of Support (filling it out now while we wait, driving me mad!)

On the "Instructions for Form I-134" PDF it says you need a letter from the employer stating "salary paid"; is that just your total yearly salary or do they mean salary that has already been paid out to you? I imagine its the former but it doesn't hurt to check!
Secondly, My fiancee (the sponsor) only started her first job in september and before then was a student. She more than exceeds the minimum salary requirement in her current job but would they be turned off by her not having had it for very long?

Thanks so much for your help!

Just the petitioner needs a letter from employer HR on company letter head paper stating what your hire date was, position, total earnings for previous year 2017 assuming your interview will be this year and if your position is a temp job or regular full time employment. Beneficiary doesn’t need anything for I-134

Your employer may ask what the letter is for as did mine, just be honest with them if so. I didn’t go into too much detail but all I explained was that it was needed for US Immigration services for my fiance. Your employer shouldn’t give any pushback about that.

The employment letter requires that you have stated your present salary as well as the other items that you had mentioned in your post.
