They called him to verify the email first, and while on the phone she email the packet.

Also, whille paying the visa we realized it cost more than the expected $265. It actually came up to 37100jmd which was equivalent to $293 usd. Not sure why, because we chose to pick up the passport which is free.

Hi Everyone,

Just in case you're interested with the answer I got from NVC after filling the online form to update my and my fiance's email address in the system (NOA2: approved October 16th):

"Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for your inquiry. We do not have a record of receiving your petition.

It can take at least six weeks for the National Visa Center (NVC) to receive an approved petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and enter it in the U.S. Department of State's database system. If it has been less than six weeks since USCIS approved your petition, you don't need to take any action at this point.

If USCIS approved your petition more than six weeks ago, please send us a scanned copy of your I-797 or I-171 Notice of Action - Approval Notice. You can attach the scanned copy to an email, and send it to nvcresearch@state.gov.

In the subject line of your email, please type the original receipt number from your I-130 Approval Notice. If you have more than one petition, send a separate email for each petition. Once we receive the copy of your approval notice, we will contact USCIS to find your petition.

Before you send us an email, please check your Notice of Action and make sure it says your petition was approved. If it says that USCIS kept your petition, or if it is a notice other than an approval, you should contact USCIS for more information. You can contact them on their website at uscis.gov, or by telephone at 1-800-375-5283.

Receipt Number: ..........................

IMPORTANT:

If your visa petition is currently processing at the National Visa Center, do not let more than one year pass without contacting NVC. If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact (by telephone, mail, or e-mail) with NVC, all submitted fees and documents expire. If this occurs, the fees must be paid again and documents must be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process."

Ps. Does NVC really send you an email once they got your case and assigned you a case number?

Thanks,

Marta

Hmm didn’t work for me, but I guess it works for some people?

They received my case on Monday, assigned a number on Tuesday, and I never got any emails about it.

In fact, the lady on the phone said she had only the petitioner’s e-mail address (and I, the beneficiary, had already submitted that online form 2 weeks ago, asking them to update both our e-mail addresses).

The email "tool" is something that works some of the time so it'####### or miss. Try sending the email address's for the two of you once you hear that NVC has your case. My instructions maybe flawed that we have to wait till the file is at NVC before the update will take effect. Let's report back to the thread if this solves the problem or not.

You should become familiar with your country's sub-forum here on VJ to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with. This will allow you to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to take at the US Embassy - Brazil.  Sub-forum for Brazil is located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

This is the Packet 3 (P3) letter from your Embassy.

https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee/the-interview-2/

There is a lot of information on the Embassy for Brazil here https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/frequently-asked-questions-non-immigrant-visas/

A thread were a lot of chatter about the process for the Brazil Embassy and interview

I am so confused by this post...

I would like some clarification.  As i understand things, there is no CEAC tracker...What do you mean by this?  If you get to this point then that means you already have your Case number and submitted your DS-160.  If you submitted your DS-160 after getting your case number...is the fee for the DS-160 (NONimmigrant visa) not $165?

Someone please correct me...?

I understand the the Visa fee for Colombia is $ 325

Hi All, just a question regarding the Affadavit of Support (filling it out now while we wait, driving me mad!)

On the "Instructions for Form I-134" PDF it says you need a letter from the employer stating "salary paid"; is that just your total yearly salary or do they mean salary that has already been paid out to you? I imagine its the former but it doesn't hurt to check!
Secondly, My fiancee (the sponsor) only started her first job in september and before then was a student. She more than exceeds the minimum salary requirement in her current job but would they be turned off by her not having had it for very long?

Thanks so much for your help!

Visa fee is $265 for a  k-1 worldwide

Not sure about that.

Embassy of the United States of America

Consular Section, Immigrant Visa Unit

Bogotá, Colombia

APPOINTMENT PACKAGE – IMMIGRANT VISAS (Packet 3/4)

This packet is intended only for individuals who are already scheduled for an immigrant visa interview. If you have not received an appointment scheduling letter from the National Visa Center or the Embassy, you should wait for that letter before you follow these steps. Please note that immigrant visa interviews for residents of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao are being scheduled at the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá starting in January 2017.

For residents of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao: please see page 5 for instructions.

FIRST: Register date and time of your visa interview and arrange for visa delivery at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-co/iv. When prompted, schedule your fingerprint appointment with our “Applicant Service Center” (ASC) by selecting one of the available dates. You must attend this appointment. Register every family member applying for a visa, by clicking on “Add applicant.” IF YOU DO NOT REGISTER, ATTEND YOUR FINGERPRINT APPOINTMENT AND SELECT A DELIVERY LOCATION, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE CONSULAR SECTION FOR YOUR INTERVIEW; AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO REBOOK A NEW APPOINTMENT. You may contact our Visa Information Center at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-co/iv/information/contact_us or by phone in Colombia at (571) 5086214 - (571) 5086215 or in the United States: (1)7034392325 for assistance with this process.

SECOND: Complete the medical examination. See attached Instructions for Medical Examinations.

THIRD: Attend the interview.

 Fill out a DS-260 Online Immigrant Visa Application and Registration (available at https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx) for each family member. NOTE: If you have already filled out this online form you do not need to fill it out again.

 Arrive at the embassy no later than your scheduled appointment time. The visa interview process may take several hours. Our waiting room is outside and Bogota can get cold. Please dress accordingly.

 Make sure that everyone listed on the appointment letter brings all required documents to the appointment. Arrange documents in the exact order found on the attached List of Documents.

VISA PAYMENT: If the petitioner has not yet paid the nonrefundable visa application fee (or you are not sure if they have paid), come prepared to pay this fee (in most cases, the fee will be $325 U.S. dollars) on the day of the interview. The Embassy accepts international credit cards displaying the Visa or MasterCard logo and debit cards from any other country except Colombia. Please note that the U.S. banking system does not use the ‘cuota’ system, which means that credit cards will be charged the entire amount in one installment. The Embassy DOES NOT accept U.S. $100 bills, imperfect bills or checks.

In South Africa it is listed as $240 according to their website. I don't think it is $265 across the board.
