hey guys, maybe you can help me rest my mind a little bit... Im flying with my k1 tomorrow and only booked a one way trip. Problem is, that i saw some people have problems with the airline still wanting a return ticket because they dont see the k1 as an immigrant visa. Is there any official statement from the government about this?  I saw a link to it in an older thread but the link didnt work anymore.

do you maybe know more about this and can help me please  @Greenbaum ?

I moved here with one way ticket without problem. the immigration in my home country only ask what kind of visa are you traveling and i told them fiance visa so that I can get married to my fiance and move there and they let me through. The same with the airlines, they don't know much about K1 visa, but they didn't give me a hard time.

Double check her passport, because my husband's passport shows one number in the 'Passport Number' field, but when I tried with that number, it couldn't find the I-94.  Then I tried with a number called the 'Passport Book Number', or something like that, and that number worked.

Thanks but she only has Passport No., no other numbers associated with the word passport. I called CBP, they said her i94 should be available immediately after arrival, otherwise there was a mistake made when inputting her info. She must now email an affidavit, passport bio page, and passport visa to CBP deferred inspection to have the corrections made, which can take up to 10 business days.

Is the presentation of physical printed i94 absolutely necessary for Social security card ?

your visa is something official. they might ask you why you book one way ticket and you simply just tell them it's because i'm moving there and US government has issued the visa for me to legally do that. If the officer at the check in counter give you a hard time and not to let you board, you have all reason to call their supervisor

oki thank you so much. Im usually super confident with certain things, but when i know those people are the ones deciding about my future or just things like letting me board the plane i get very anxious.

when i had problems with my interview, i wasnt even wanting to write the embassy the next day cuz i didnt want to "annoy" them. But my fiance told me: DO IT.

Hi guys !

So our interview was on the 30th of January in Lagos and he was approved!! They have notified him and he’s going to pick up his visa tomorrow!! Im so nervous about booking the flight for next week. He would be flying to the Atlanta international Hartsfield airport and will have a layover in Instabul, Turkey. (One way or round trip.. whichever is cheaper) Is Atlanta an acceptable POE? Will he require a visa for Instanbul as well? Also read that he can’t open the brown package in addition to the passport? If Instanbul searches through his documents .. will this be troublesome to his arrival in ATL? I am from Birmingham and I will be picking him up from Atlanta.

He would be flying to the Atlanta international Hartsfield airport and will have a layover in Instabul, Turkey. Wait for visa in hand and then buy the tickets. (One way or round trip.. whichever is cheaper) Is Atlanta an acceptable POE? No difference whatsoever what city is POE. Will he require a visa for Instanbul as well? No, but he cannot leave the terminal. Also read that he can’t open the brown package in addition to the passport? He can't open the package that says with big letters "DO NOT OPEN". If Instanbul searches through his documents .. will this be troublesome to his arrival in ATL? They are not supposed to open the package given by the embassy, Turkish Govt has nothing to do with him immigrating to USA. Passport with K-1 visa is what they might check. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE PACKAGE, IT IS FOR POE IN USA!!!  I am from Birmingham and I will be picking him up from Atlanta.

Sometimes if you are traveling through another country they may ask for your envelope and has tempting as it its you may try and refuse but I believe they will still want to see the contents. If they open the envelop and then at some point return it back to you, it's not the end of the world. You will still be able to transit your POE but you will be asked about what caused the envelope to be opened. I have read two other cases where this happened and both were allowed entry into the USofA.

I don't see why Turkish authority wants to search your papers, esp when it has seal from a foreign government. Buy if they do, I would ask them to give me a letter of statement that they need to open it for whatever reason so that I can give that letter to CBP officer at POE.

I transited in Taipei without problem. I brought all my paperworks and my diplomas and certificates in my hand carry suitcase and Taiwanese authority didn't care less about what paper that I brought. All they might have searched for was the trace of explosives,  drugs and unauthorized weapons and things like that for security reasons
