You have to live in your home country for 2 years after a J-1 visa, before you can be eligible for a K visa issue. You could try to get a waiver if that 2 years hasn't passed.  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study/exchange/waiver-of-the-exchange-visitor.html

I think I'm gonna have a heart attack. Does anyone know if Camp America program has anything to do with it? We're so close, our case is in the embassy already, I'd lose my mind if my former J-1 visa would cause a denial. 😩😩

Congratulations on your approval! Did you guys front load your petition? @Abbey B

I’m not sure what that means :) if you are asking if we applied for a waiver or tried to speed up the process, then no—we just waited throughout the standard processing. It took 7 months for NOA2 and then 2 more months for NVC, Embassy, Medical and interview. Total time 9 months since applying before visa is in hand (for us atleast).

Sent I-129F: March 13, 2018

NOA 1: March 15, 2018

NOA 2: October 3, 2018

Case Arrived at NVC: October 19, 2018

Case Number Received: October 22, 2018

NVC Shipped Case to Embassy: October 30, 2018

Case Arrived at Embassy: November 2, 2018

Medical Exam: November 19, 2018

Interview: December 7, 2018

Interview Results: Approved!

Visa Received: January 2, 2019

Point of Entry to US: January 15, 2019

Married: March 11th, 2019

Sent I-485, I-765, and I-131: April 30, 2019

I would suggest moving the discussion out into a separate topic/thread, more likely to get info from people that have experience with "K-visa after J-visa" before. Probably not a denial, maybe delay. From what I've found searching here, because Camp America is a private company and the stays are short, the 2-year rule doesn't appear to apply.

Would anyone know by chance if you can turn in a signed photocopy of the Affidavit of Support form for P3s? Or does it have to be a hardcopy with the wet signature on it?

Thank you

My embassy has no available dates for an interview. It's getting annoying.

You aren't alone. Our embassy has been showing the same message for 3 weeks. Annoying, but less annoying than waiting for that NOA2.

Oh—no we didn’t. We sent 7 pictures total (with descriptions of each) in the i129f and our boarding passes to visit each other. No phone logs or receipts or messages. We’ve been working with a lawyer and he did not recommend them. He said that pictures of you and your fiancé (especially if you have some with other people together or family) are the most impactful. We’ve shared ones from family holidays, vacations, friends with us etc. He says that the officers honestly don’t find anything else as valuable.

Phone logs or messages are not required for the petition and are ignored

YMMV

Do what do will do. The proof of the relationship is at the Embassy level. USCIS is only concerned with who you are and what you have done in your life (are you a thug, criminal or will you do harm to other ppl once you arrive in the US) that would preclude you from moving forward with your application to the Embassy.

Thank you

It depends on the Embassy as each embassy is different in their requirements. Best if you ask that question in your sub-forum for your region. Go to the top blue ribbon, select "forums" and scroll 3/4 of the way down and look for your region. If you don't get an answer then email the embassy and ask. I usually try and keep track of those embassies' that do and don't but I have to depend on folks like you to post the result of your inquiry.

Do you have the P3?

Spain requires the embassy send the packet 3 which allows the beneficiary to schedule and attend the medical and needs to be brought to the medical appointment, and in order to book the interview Spain requires packet 4. I have not verified this but this information came from someone who processed recently.

@greenbaum @payxibka Agreed :) we have already received the interview approval—we only provided 7 pictures in the 129F and brought about 10 more for the embassy interview—they didn’t even look at them.

That's typical but you have to be prepared in the event you need them. Congrats.
