I don't have a Packet 3 letter that has all the requirements for your upcoming interview but what I have I will share below. Once you get in touch with your Embassy and they send you the P3 letter with all the requirements if would be so kind and share a copy with me then I can use it to help others in the future. Thanks.

Hi, Greenbaum, Thank you ever so much for the Instruction for UK. I will be calling up for Medical appointment tomorrow! 🙂 Your welcome.

It is much appreciated if you could kindly give me advice, please. I am planning to visit my fiancé in U.S  from 8th - 27th December. I am hoping to get Medical done prior to this trip or book it in early January and also hoping to get interview booked in later January too.

Regarding DS-160, Is it okay to fill the form after this trip as there is a question of when I visited U.S. Would it be still okay to book an interview without filling DS-160? The DS-160 is a document needed at the time of the interview. It has nothing to with booking your interview. The exception is that there are few embassies that require that it be submitted before the embassy will allow you to book an interview. Your embassy does not have that requirement so you are free to complete it now and submit it.

I actually tried to fill in but I realised I should do after this trip, then this form I started (not completed/just saved) will be invalid after 30days? Can I create new one after? Most embassies like it to be "fresh" less then 6 months. You will have additional information to add after your trip to USA so I would complete it 30 days before the interview. You do not have to complete a new one, use the one you started and open it and add on bit of information and save again. Clock starts ticking all over again for the 30 days rule.

In case of  passport control, a copy of NOA2, a proof of my current employee (HR signed letter with company headed paper dated on 3rd DEC), the copy of land registry (to show that I own a house in U.K) are going to be good enough? That should be enough for Boarder Security. The letter from HR should indicate that you have a vacation to the US and the dates you will be absent from work will be XX/XX/XXXX TO XX/XX/XXXX and that you will be returning to them to continue your employment. Something to that affect.

I have a similar question. Can you file DS-160 and Schedule interview after getting Case number? or wait till the Case says Ready. Considering the shipment to consulate will happen next, should we schedule interview? Any info is appreciated.

There is no expiration date but there is a date that it must be completed by and that is the interview. Most Embassy's don't care when it gets done but the Japanese Embassy requires it to be completed as part of the preparation paperwork that is returned to that Embassy. That's what is tricky. If you're in a thread like this one, where everyone is from different country's which has different requirements then you could get the wrong answer. So it's best to go to the sub-forum for your country. Go to the top of this page. Choose the "forum" tab and then scroll 3/4 of the way down the page to see country specific sub-forums.

The DS - 160 is a document that stands on its own. It does not affect anything. It doesn't have a "fee". You can't use it to find any information about your case. You can't use if for anything other than for its original intent and that is for the CO to use during your interview to adjudicate your case. It does not need to be finished to do anything else but needs to be completed for the interview and it can be completed between now and the day before your interview.

Here is my advice. As a couple you work together answering the questions. Once you are complete and you believe it's ready STOP! Now, each of you look through the copy that is ready to be submitted. Look for blanks or unanswered questions, look for spelling errors and look at dates. Once BOTH are satisfied then the beneficiary is the one to take the oath and submit the document in their country

All k1 visa and adjustment of status must provide the affidavit of support. And the sponsor will be responsible for the non citizen for 10 years even in the event of divorce

You did not indicate if the AOS is for the interview or the AOS after marriage. If for the interview yes you must provide one but, some embassies don't ask for it unless you are in the questionable poverty level. Here are the details.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

Thank you very much for your detailed reply, I really appreciate it so much! All noted. I booked my medical exam for 1st December this morning.

I will complete the DS-160 form as you instructed, and also I was able to obtain the amended letter from HR as you suggested today.

I am so grateful for your help...!

Happy thanksgiving everyone.

For the beneficiaries on this thread, I can safely predict that this time next year most of us will be having turkey with our loved one in the US.   And married.   And with a permit to work ... but on a day off.   Exciting times.

Yay and hopefully I will be in Grad school studying how to build climate smart cities 😎

Happy thanksgiving everyone. My fiancé had his medical in Germany and all seemed fine (who knows...it gets forwarded to the embassy) but he did not have a flu shot. The doctor said he could give it to him but as my fiancé has just had every vaccine known to man over the past three weeks he asked if he could get it later and the doctor said no problem. My question is...when does he get it!? And who does he tell?? Does he just bring a record of getting it to the interview? I’m a bit confused. Thanks!

Hi all,

My Fiancee and i have now got our case number from the NVC but it has yet to be forwarded to the consulate here in germany. Should i go ahead with registering and paying the fee on the ustraveldocs site now or should i wait until i have packet 3 in hand and I've sent off the documents (I134 etc) in the post?

thanks!

I don’t think it matters. You cannot submit the forms on ustraveldocs.com/de (well not the address one) without a completed DS-160. You can get the medical now as long as you have your case number. My fiancé did the medical in Frankfurt this week and you just have to write your case number on the form. Other than that you can assemble all the paperwork, get 6 passport photos, complete and submit the DS-160 once your case is “ready” in Frankfurt. And then wait for P3. After You have submitted DS-160 you can complete the address info and pay the fee. Then you schedule when you receive P4.
