NOA2 was 10/17. NVC received my case on 11/9. Just got off the phone with them and was told my case # was just assigned. Should leave in the next batch!

The best thing you can do is head on over to this thread and make yourself comfortable and knowledgeable from others who are processing from SA. Link is here.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/663264-south-african-k1-visa-applicants/

Some information to be aware of:

Best thing for you all to do is get your police certificates BUT they cannot be older than 6 months.  If you were 16 and older and lived in another country besides S.A., then you will need a police certificate from there as well, so be prepared.

Start gathering documents, originals of birth certificates, divorce decree's, pictures and other evidence of your relationship that was not included in your original package (since it will take some time, they still want to see you are still an active couple).  Any passport photos cannot be older than 6 months old.

When you get your NOA2, give it about 10 days before you call NVC and asking status of your case.  You can always call USCIS for your status, but they are not the friendliest and I wouldn't even but them until at least 90 days minimum, I highly doubt they have caught up with the backlog, especially with all the immigration and DACA stuff going on.  The NVC is much friendlier, when you get there and will help you with no problem with any update you are asking.  But normally when you get your NOA2, like I said give it at least 10 days before you call them.  They didn't get our package for at least 14 days.

After you get your NOA2 and your package goes to NVC, it goes pretty quick, so use this time wisely to gather all your documents.  The petitioner needs to provide pay stubs (3 months), I-134 Aff. of Support, Employment verification letter, VA eligibility letter, if applicable, to show as part of income and last 3 years of tax records.

Then once NVC processes your package, a medical appointment can be made, you only have 2 options, one in Joburg and one in Cape Town.  My fiancé went to Joburg.   It's a 2 day process, but spread between 3 days.  You go one day for bloodwork and x-rays and the next for shots and discussion with the dr., so plan on that.

Your finance, not the petitioner, will need to fill out the Visa app online, DS-160 and pay the fee.

Make sure you set up your online account correctly and schedule the interview, she finished her physicals (her and her boys) in November, but we missed the interview's for Dec/Jan/Feb, due to holiday schedules.  They only do K1 visa interviews there at the consulate the last 2 weeks of the month and only on Tues and Thursdays.  So our interview is 20 March, we scheduled it 26 Dec, because they kept telling her there were no appointments, then we call and it jumped 3 months!  So plan wisely.

I hope y'all are having a good Monday! :)

Got two questions here: do I have to fill in DS160 for the case to leave NVC or it's going to be sent to the embassy either way? I thought the normal process is that you fill in DS160 after you get a package from the embassy, if you're not in a rush and don't need to speed up the whole process.

And another question is: I know we have to have a proof of our conversations so basically I'm just taking screenshots of our texts via messenger. I take two screenshots per month, since we've met (1,5 year ago). Will that be enough? Our conversation is so long, I can't imagine taking more! :P I take screenshots with the dates and about most important topics from embassy's perspective, like our flights or travels or plans. I feel like I'm overthinking it big time. 🙄

As I understood, the medical exam can be done only after receiving the case number from NVC, but no need to wait for the documents to reach the embassy/consulate.

1. Case number from NVC is needed for medical examination along with address in US, where beneficiary is going to live. Your fiancée will need to know this.

2. Police certificate can be obtained without case number. It is valid 1 year. So beneficiary can obtain it in advance.

3. To get results of medical examination it can take 7-14 days, especially in Summer. Medical costs $190 - adult, $140 - child under 14 years.

Police certificate: costs 12,25 bel.rubles- within 7-15 days, or 24,5 bel.rubles - within 3 days.

4. The birth certificate needs to be translated to English.

5. If the petitioner is going to be with the beneficiary for the interview, the USC does not need to fill out anything. Just use the petitioner's passport to enter the US embassy. Though, it doesn't guarantee that they will be allowed to attend the interview with beneficiary that's entirely up to the interviewing CO.

Note: Do not schedule your interview date until you receive a letter with the instructions. If you do not receive the instructions from the US Embassy within six weeks after the notification from NVC about the transferring of your case to Warsaw, you should send an inquiry about the status of your case directly to the Consular Section of the US Embassy Warsaw at publicwaw@state.gov

If you're talking about interview itself, I'd just take a screenshot every month, place 6 per page and that's it. I'm not sure if they will even look at the conversations. Pictures, and tickets are the best ones.
In Vilnius, the P3 for interview doesn't even mention proof of relationship..

Thank you! :)

Of course we have a whole lot of pictures of us and with our families, our reservations/bookings, tickets from the places we went together etc. :) I was just curios about the conversations itself. Thanks again!

You have good evidence in what PaulMac stated and also what you said. As far as chat logs, don't go overboard just enough that they can see that you have communicated from when you applied to now at the interview and that things are still going strong. Relax you'll be find. I gave you all that is needed with a sprinkling of added advice from others who have gone before you. Hope everything works out fine.

I don't know what I'd do without all y'alls' support! :) I'm so glad this forum exists, it's extremely helpful!

I've started filling the DS160 form and I'm unsure about three things:

1. Address where you will stay in the U.S. - me and my finace are going to move to some other place than the one he's staying at right now once I move to the states. We are 90% sure about the location but there's always a chance that our plans will change and we'll find a better spot - what if we end up living somewhere else? Is it important from the DS160's perspective? And what about the talk with an immigrance officer upon arrival to US? Can it have any impact on me entering the States?

2. Person/Entity paying for your trip. - I'm gonna pay for the tickets on my own, however we're in this together ;) Since my currency is 4 times less worth than USD, there's a chance my savings will disappear at some point, if I don't find myself a job quickly. Any ideas? As of now, I put "SELF" here.

3. Fiance/Fiancee's Address. - aright, so I guess I need to put the current address and not the potential future one. Should I put here the registered address or the one that my fiance is actually staying at?

🙏☺️😇

Have a good morning / afternoon / evening / night everyone!! :)

@Greenbaum - quick question.  I just received NOA2 for K1 visa and I'm now thinking ahead to the greencard process. I noticed that processing times in current location (Seattle) are very long and that processing times at other two locations in the state are much much faster (Wenatchee and Spokane).  I assume that the processing center is based on the address where we live, but not clear if its based on the address in my K1 application or the address in my future AOS application.  If its the latter is there any issue with me moving to a city nearer Wenatchee or Spokane to have those service centers manage my request? (I WFH and rent so have some flexibility..) Thanks!

Guess the good news!!! Approved!!! Friday picking up the passport with visa.

Fiance said it was easiest interview in her life. They just asked her the following:

1. Where is he currently working?

2. When did he move to USA?

3. How did he move? (Under what visa)

4. Where did he propose?

5. How did we meet?

they took only my i-134 and never even looked at Cosponsor.

aaaand that was that. Ooooooofff feel like a weight of the world came of my shoulders!

It worked!! Thank You!! Same to You! Waiting only for good news!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That made so happy to read!! I know it must feel amazing and relieving to have all this process finally come to an end. We are all invested in each other here and will continue to support you!! Now go get married :)

You know, I am not up to speed on whether that would work or not. I recommend going to this thread below and ask this question. There are many who are well versed in your topic. I concentrate in this area unless of course I have read or experience something that I can opine to. I would love to hear what the answer will be. Can you PM me here on VJ on what you find out or share the link to your question. Good Luck.
