No. If your Local Field Office is one that processes AOS fast, you may not get an EAD/AP Combo Card at all. The process is seperate. You wont need a Combo Card if you get a GC. The Combo Card would just not finish processing if you were approved for your GC first.

Oh ok last night my AOS status change to ready for interview but EAD still saying same status, I hope we get at least his employment card thanks!

"Ready to schedule" just means your application is likely in line for an interview now at your LFO. Some LFOs have a wait time of months, some years.

You can check your LFO's estimated processing times here by selecting I485 and your LFO.

https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Depending on your LFO, you may have to wait for an interview. In that case, of course your Combo Card would come first.

If your LFO is fast, then you will get an interview and your GC first and the Combo Card will discontinue processing as the GC and Combo Card are seperate processes.

If we received and RFE for the AOS---but received the EAD----Could this still be pretty much anything?

Yes. From what I have read, they are processed by different IO's. Your AOS IO could have lost a document. OR it could be related to the I864 which is most likely.

Ok, so my EAD has to change status too? I checked and still saying the same from when we did fingerprints.

Sometimes it changes when they approve your EAD, some people just get their card in the mail and the status never changes. Fingerprint status isn't to do with EAD. That's for AOS

EAD/AP are your work/travel combo card. That status update won't generally change until it's approved, but sometimes it never changes, and you just get the card in the mail. Any status updates about fingerprints or interviews have to do with your AOS (Green Card) application. Those statuses are the ones you will see change.

And yes, that's what I originally commented to you lol but I don't think you read it. I live in Upper Marlboro.

Hi guys!! I just created my account bec I wanted to share my experience...

My case for EAD got updated today! I was so surprised because I saw that the processing times had another backlog... but I'm happy it's moving forward 😊 I really hope there will be more approvals/updates to come for the other filers!

PS: My PD for my cases is October 3, 2018. I'll be updating my timeline soon :)

Hi all,

My timeline

10/15/18 NOA-1

03/07/19 EAD approved (new card is being produced)

03/11       Noa-2 in a mailbox for both ead & ap

03/12       card was mailed

03/13       card was picked up by USPS

03/14       combo-card in my mailbox

I was pleasantly surprised USCIS sent me tracking number for my ead ☺️

Online status for AP is still “case was received “

same here. even still one week later the AP says received, when clearly it's been approved.  got another letter in the mail today hoping its an interview date!

Combo card approved on 7th and received today!

I got NOA by mail and also got text messages and emails.

Right after getting the combo card (that is valid until 3/06/2020) I rushed into the Social Security Office without an appointment. I wish to check if they changed my name and address since we requested a new card by the I485 form. They didn’t have any new data. So I presented documents (passport, marriage license, combo card) and they requested a new card (probably with the same SSN that I had while in J1 visa. New SSN to arrive in 10 business days. Waiting for it to go for a new driver’s license.

Once the wait is over, at least for me, I would like to know where to go now on VJ forums since the interview for GC should only happen next year here in Houston?

I realized I was looking up someone else's number--who ever's is next in line in order of receipt number. Took me a minute. So we don't have an RFE at this point. Just waiting on the interview.

We got the EAD card today! Thank you Universe! No word on anything else. Good luck to everyone. It is coming, I promise!
