Since long I wanted to say to u .... u r a negative noob

i have seen all u post never ever motivating ppl. Don’t forget every one has different issues but the hard wait time is same for everyone may be not u because u r Canadian ( no offended)

now we are discussing real time issues here like ssn n all coz of the shutdown ssn which can be there in 2 days will take weeks and without ssn everything is vain

Now coming to u if it’s offends u , I will more than happy not to share my experience and info .... thanks all

nice being in the forum

I wouldnt have posted if I wasnt still waiting. My situation is no different than everyone else's.

If you follow VJ you will see that it's not uncommon to start seperate threads to share your joy after you've reached the next level. We did it after we got NOA2 as K1s so as to deter from disappointing others as we talked about the next stage. Celebrating is fine but I'm just pointing out the fact that not everyone here was lucky enough to expedite. And it wasnt until I asked the EAD approved in this thread to disclose that they were in fact expedited cases that it was disclosed. Your full info wasnt shared in fact. You kept sharing info of expedited cases only and did not disclose that they were expedited. All I am saying.

Expediate is entirely different chapter

that’s what I m doing - not celebrating - rather motivating ppl  n preparing in advance for issues n there resolution

expediate I can write a chapter - trust me expediate is nothing - it’s just sheer luck

my expediate was never approved - the SR was closed every time

so don’t make expediate a criteria even ppl without expediate got GC directly without EAD

so conclusion is it entirely depends on field office and your adjucation officer.

when u raise SR it goes to the AO - they see and entirely it’s on their mood and circumstances. Similarly when u make infopass then also the office just raise a sr but then the AO knows that it’s from USCIS offfice. Similarly when congressman or senator send enquiry it lands to same AO.

its like a day to day office - AO can be on leave with a bad day and all. Also AO say leaves organisation or goes on long leaves the ur case goes to new AO who will start studying the case from start so it will take more time

So overall same AO has all info about ur -case and it’s up to him how he responds like can ask you expediate reason and docs or can just approve etc

fyi overall I raised 6 SR all of which were closed and one infopass for which I travelled 150 miles overnight. Contacted congressman and senator but the reply was as I posted - under review and suddenly one day it was approved.

Hope all this information helps someone :)

no hard feelings @K1visaHopeful

i had a bad day too 😞

What is this talk about SSN delays?

Officially there are none. Ppl who have been approved for their EAD through expedite or not are still able to obtain an SSN by going to an SSA to obtain an SSN. It's a huge possiblity that because they have expedited that the traditional method of applying for an SSN via the I765 will take longer. They can still go to an SSA with their status change document (the EAD) and apply. The shutdown has no affect.

Actually no

when u fill I-765 applicable for GC ppl too @thomasnc1988 and @icanbenobody there is a column which u check to apply for new ssn ( only for new ssn)

dhs apply on your behalf Nd since DHS Is impacted from shutdown an SSA rep confirmed me today morning to wait .... you don’t want to apply separately and end up with 2 SSN

Plus if u apply separately it’s gonna take another 2-3 weeks

You can apply for a replacement SSN via the I765. It is not only a method for original SSN application. The I765 instructions state this:

"If your request for employment authorization is approved, the SSA may assign you an SSN and issue you a Social Security card, or issue you a replacement card. If you want the SSA to assign you a Social Security number and issue you a Social Security card, or issue you a new or replacement Social Security card, then answer “Yes” to both Item Number 14. and Item Number 15. You must also provide your father’s and mother’s family and given names at birth in Item Numbers 16.a. - 17.b. SSA will use Item Numbers 16.a. -17.b. in issuing you a Social Security card."

You simply input your current SSN in 13b. You would never be issued a second SSN as you are filling out info regarding your parents names on the I-765 and that is directly related to your SSN. They would obviously tie you to the original number and never issue you a second one with that info as disclosed on the I765.

USCIS is a fee based agency of DHS that is not yet impacted by the government shutdown. The SSA agent who stated that had no clue and I'm not really surprised after my many experiences there.

Yes so true but at the end our issues should be sorted 👍

What happened at the interview. Could you please tell us in detail ?

Interview took about 5 mins from swearing to walking out. I was asked the yes or no questions from my i485 and asked to sign a form. After he asked my spouse how we met. Then he said we will get a notice between 30 and 45 days and we were escorted out of the office. He didnt exactly say we were approved.
