PS I'm off to the SSA to try to change my surname on my card this morning. 24 days left on my I94. Let's hope for a competent agent (or incompetent if that works in my favour). Wish me luck.

I hope you have better luck than me! Good luck! Don't give them your SSN card unless they tell you they are SURE they can change your name, or you will end up like me with no SSN card, and no name change!

I saw a few members touching base on payment via credit card verses money order. Where do you find that link to pay via card?

There's no link. You have to fill in the form for credit card.

But I still suggest using check.

Somehow I filled in the credit card form first and got rejected.... So I highly suggest you just go with the check, that can't be wrong.

My card is from Canada and I had no problems. Trust that i was worried too.

No, my husband used the credit card issued from US.  If you can, just use check. Otherwise, there will be at least 2 weeks delay if it doesn't work.

Okay I got out with my original maiden name SSCard (he never asked) and a manual verify letter again (it happened the first time too).

 

@NikkiMarie, did they deny you on the spot or did you get a manual verification too and were later denied?

Hi guys update uscis cashed my check yesterday i haven't received any txt or emails but I went on my bank app and look at the check and I noticed my receipt number is on it i put on uscis case status and say received and has been sent for finger prints

My payment was accepted yesterday in the wee hours of the morning and I got the text and email shortly before midnight. 

I bet you'll get them tonight or tomorrow!

Ahh I'm so nervous, really hoping to get my NOA for the AoS soon. I know it's still sorta early since they only received it on 10/19 but argh. I just need a peace of mind cause I have like 10 days left on my I-94. 😰

Nope, I had to get manual verification. SAVE said 4 days later that they verified and sent my case back to SSN, but when I called the local office a week later, they said they can’t do it because my I-94 was expiring soon. I forgot to mention that I got lucky when I went to apply the first time, and I got a guy who was actually going through the K-1 Visa process himself, so he was familiar with everything. I saw him the second tome too. I had his direct extension and followed up with him directly, both times as well. I don’t know what the official rule is for how much time you need to have left on I-94 to change your name, but I had 25 days left on mine when I went in to change my name.

You will be fine. They received my mail on 10/19. My I-94 expired 10/27 and my official receipt dates are 10/19 and 10/25.
