Welcome in our group!🤗
Did you receive RFE after requst or before request?  And what RFE do you have? I sent a request 30 on April and recieved RFE 13 on Form I-485 on May.

I literally just got the text that my case is ready for an interview right now which is amazing!! I am so happy that things are finally moving !!

Are you sure you are outside of normal processing times now?

They just recently pushed back EAD/ AP processing times from 5 to 7 months to 6.5 to 8.5 and 6 to 8 respectively.

I'd check out the USCIS processing times website.

EAD is back at September 21st while AP is at October 5th.

Just right now 1am 30 on May I sent a request about Outside Normal Processing Time № 2 for my EAD/AP.

Like I thought my requests now are not tied to the Processing Times on the USCIS site. But again I have to wait answer before 21 June.

And , I think, if I do not receive a reply, then after 30 days (June 30) I will be able to submit the request again.🤣

I never have any luck trying to search within Visa Journey for a specific answer to a question. Any info I’ve found here has been from reading through pages and pages of threads, so I’ll just ask my question. How long will it take for me to receive the actual combo card in my mailbox?

People get theirs combos within 7-10 days after approval ✌️

Just an update on my EAD case. When I received my job offer on May 22nd I sent it to Senator John Cornyn's office and asked their help to expedite it.

Today I received a letter from the senator, dated May 22nd with the USCIS answer that my case was being expedited. And 6 days later I got the approval.

So I guess that if it wasn't for the job offer and the Senator's interference it wouldn't have happened so quick. I hope this is useful for other people!

Hey Guys,

Hang in there. Our Date was Oct. 12, 2019. I filed an out of processing time inquiry on May 13th, 2019. I was frustrated that they didn't even assign someone to look at that for 2 weeks. Last Wednesday, I called USCIS and spoke to a Tier 1 who was extremely helpful. She advised that the Tier 2's were not available, but could she have our phone number to put a note in our record. She said that because we live in Hawaii, the NBC was handling our EAD and they were in fact back logged from the Government shut down. Our Attorney advised us that even though they were still required to work, many of them quit to take other employment. Well, to our surprise, Friday we finally saw some movement. We got notification that our interview was scheduled, and on Sunday (yes a weekend) notification that his EAD New card was being produced. Yesterday we got the message the card was mailed.

It's been a long, frustrating process for all of us. At least things are starting to move for us OCT. filers!

Hi all, first time poster here!

USCIS received my application on Oct. 11th, and I received and RFIE on Feb. 20th. They received my response on Mar. 20th and on April 17th my status was changed to case ready to be scheduled for an interview. However, still no movement on my EAD since the fingerprint review was complete. I'm close to finishing my graduate degree in August and can't really start looking for a job until I have my EAD.

I believe that since I had the RFE my date for being past the processing time is pushed a month back (from oct. 11th to nov. 11th) - is that accurate? Thought I was getting close and then saw the date jump back to mid september :/

Has anyone had a similar situation? Do I have any hope that my EAD is close to being processed at this time?

Thanks for any input.

Even with the RFIE you can make an inquiry for case outside normal processing time if your PD date is past the date on the processing time website.

There has been people that applied on October and received RFIEs and have received their EAD already... but there is no logic to USCIS, its more like a lottery... yours could be close to be processed, or not...

If I can give you an advice I would tell you to start looking for jobs even without the EAD... in the application for the jobs, answer that you are authorized to work and will not need sponsorship... when they do the phone screening with the HR person you can explain your situation, but don't give to many details, just say that you are in the green card process and you should receive your employment authorization document in the next weeks... a few companies might just tell you to call them back when you have the document in hands, and others will go through with the process... and if you receive a job offer and you still haven't received the EAD, ask USCIS to expedite your EAD... if the company really wants you to work for them, they'll wait a few weeks...

With the unemployment rate in the lowest level of all times companies are having a hard time finding good candidates, so you have a good bargaining power right now.

I'd say it would work if the other person is making nothing. What if the person supporting has a pretty decent job and you have no financial difficulty? ;)

All K-1 EAD applications are handled by the National Benefits Centre. The local field office only processes & does interviews for AOS. Also, USCIS was not affected by the shutdown, as they are a self funded entity (funded by the applications) The reason USCIS is backlogged is because of all the extra work & screening that has been ordered by the Trump administration. Applications are actually down, compared to the past.

I am shocked! My updated SSN card (with my married name) arrived today, before my EAD card!! I was most worried about having to wait longer for the SSN card. EAD card will be arriving tomorrow or the next day!! ☺️

So my interview is on the 12th, but we have not received any updates on our EAD or AP... will those come before the 12th? or will they come when our green card is mailed to us?

They are separate processes. If you receive the GC you will have no need for the Combo Card.

When I finally receive my Green Card, do they issue me another SSN card without the phrase “Valid For Work Only With DHS Authorization”?
