April 30, I sent a request  (I-765 and I- 131) and received a response - wait for a response until May 22.

On May 10, I called USCIS and asked to speak with Tier 2, because I consider that my documents are lost and even after the biometrics was taken there were no updates on my page. They promised to call me back, but nobody called me back.

Today, on May 13, I had an update on the petition I-485 (they sent me a Request for Initial Evidence Was Mailed). This is already a good sign. This shows me that at least they opened my folder first time since October 4. I will send them the missing documents (although I’m sure I’ve sent them all) and they will send my documents to Los Angeles. But waiting tima in my Los Angeles 12-19.5 month. It is will change nothing for me.

But there are no updates on my EAD. Therefore, I will call them again today. Today 221 days.

That completely sucks! I'm sorry you're going through that...

I am getting frustrated again... after they pushed the dates forward twice in March, and then backwards this month, I thought my EAD approval wouldn't go past May... but today I found out that I can do case scans on the phone app, and checking the 500 cases around my number, there's barely any approvals (mostly people that got their GC already)...

It's going to be 7 months that I've applied this Sunday... for something that shouldn't take more than 3 months... I'm feeling desperate 😢

I feel your pain. I'm slowly slipping into a depression. Sunday will be exactly 7 months for me too, since I applied for EAD and I haven't heard a word about it. What frustrates me the most is knowing that some people who applied after me have received their EAD. Some 2-3 months ago!! I have so far submitted a case inquiry, contacted my congressman, and I even had my Green Card interview already. No response from any of it. This is the worst process I have ever been through, in my entire life.

I am sorry guys that you are about to hit 7months and yet no approval. I feel your pain. It is sad that even some March filers are getting ead approval whiles others are getting their gc interview.

Wishing you all luck. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞

Hi Guys,

So my Husband and I filed his paperwork on Oct. 12, 2018. To this day, we have had no notification or update on the UCIS portal since Oct. 19, 2018, stating they received our applications. I finally filed the out of normal processing form on May 7, 109 and it said today that they still have not assigned it to anyone to look at. I feel bad for him as he has been patiently waiting for his EAD and now its stressing him out. He wants to work so bad.

I am very upset about you, about myself and about other people who were so unfairly forgotten, at a time when many who submitted in 2019 already received green cards or EAD ( some people even both)/ This is unfair. 😟

When I received the update on my I- 485 (Request for Initial Evidence) I was glad that they, at least, looked at my folder. And now I’m looking at what’s written there, that if I don’t receive the envelope   before May 28, I need to submit the request , that I didn’t receive the envelope.😯 Requests, requests, requests and wait  for answer again for 30 days. I hope that by the end of this week I will receive this envelope and find out what the problem is. But it has nothing to do with EAD/ AP.

My son turns 30 in June. I miss him very much and want to come for his birthday. And my son will not be able to come here, because in my country it is impossible to open a tourist visa. I do not know what crime I committed that I cannot be given permission to work and travel.🙄 And I see that there is no point in contacting the Congressman, because it does not help.

I don’t understand why they need to think so long after the interview to make a decision? This is some kind of nonsense. Especially because they know that person does not have EAD/AP😟

And why do these processes, in general, go separately? After all, these are extra people and extra money. In my understanding, it should be one process - one person should open a folder - check all documents-  give EAD/AP - send documents to the local office  to consider I-485.  Someone can explain to me the logic of this process?

After all, in this process there is no point. Some get EAD/AP and after week GK (no sense in EAD/AP). Some get a GK first and a week later EAD/AP ( even more strange). This is some kind of absurd situation.

I've stopped trying to understand the process, because it makes absolutely no sense.

It really makes no sense... if you think, EAD/AP should be a temporary document for you to have your rights while they review your GC case, then shouldn't you get it automatically when you get married? Why do you need an officer to approve or not your EAD/AP?

I try not to think about this, because it drives me crazy, and no matter what I do it won't change 😥

@ira1712 have you tried contacting the ombudsman (https://www.dhs.gov/topic/cis-ombudsman/forms/7001) or setting an infopass (they are not scheduling online, but you can schedule on the phone)?

I know that it just seems like they put multiple layers of people for you to contact to buy them time, but I think it's worth trying...

@NikkiFromCanada, I know the feeling... if It wasn't for my wife being so lovable, supportive and patient with me, I don't know if we would be able to go through all of this...

and I'm sorry you didn't get your GC approved on the interview... I would go crazy if that happened to me... I wouldn't understand if an officer had any doubts if my marriage is real, i think I'd flip right there...

@dkitchens2, same here... like I said, what you can do is be lovable, supportive and patient with him... I guess having a dog here helps me too 🐶 it distracts me and makes me company while my wife is at work, haha... I wanted to do volunteer work too, but it's a little hard without a second car in Texas...

There's no indication he didn't think the marriage was real. He asked questions, but the mood was very friendly & light. I just feel like he wasn't allowed to give an on the spot approval for some reason. I think it's just the way the Baltimore office does it.

I understand that my I-485 are still in Missouri, not the local office. When documents come to the local office, a record appears on the page - "The interview is ready to be scheduled" .Does it make sense to record if the local office does not have this information? What do you think?

I have not yet sent an appeal to Omdbsman, because they need another set of documents that I sent to USCIS ( it big headache). Вut, I think,  if there is no progress next week, there will be no other way out ( I waiting now letter with Request for Initial Evidence ).

Got you, it's impressive how it's not a standard process across the different local offices... I hope they approve your GC quickly at least!

Well, I've seen many people here at VJ that didn't get an update on the case status, and just got letters of approval for their EAD/AP... I don't remember it happening for the GC, but you can always call and ask for a tier 2 officer and ask that (the tier 1 will say that they don't have that information, or give you the wrong information)... or you can schedule an infopass and ask all your doubts about your case to an officer in person at your local office...

I hope you have the progress you're expecting by next week!

I agree. They need to do country-wide calibration sessions so that they are all on the same page!! I understand when there is missing documents, cause for concern, security issues, or some other reason...but for people who have no issues whatsoever, it's not fair. For certain offices to never give on the spot approvals, when some other offices do...it's just unacceptable!!

The case status websites arent perfect.

Mine skipped the "Ready to be Scheduled..." status and went from "Fingerprints...." to "Interview Was Scheduled....".

Dont rely on your status to change and don't assume yours isnt at your LFO waiting for an interview.

Thank you.🙂 I understand. When I receive  "Request for Initial Evidence" there will be an address where I should send these documents. And it is will show where my case now. And I think it is will be NBC, because they are prepare documents for local office. And my office waiting time 12-19.5 month ( it is why I do not worry now about my greencart).

My question is more concerned, can I order infopass to find information about my EAD/AP? I think  no, because it is NBC work.
