sorry for this guys..

i really hope you research about this process and plan everything before you guys proceed..

wish you all the best and hope you'll get a good news soon with your application.

I Feel your pain @Hemzi and @FilAm24 My wife is unable to work i have to pay for everything as she is not receiving any sort of benefits, and that includes rent and everything. So my life savings are seriously taking some serious damage.  it seriously sucks and what really gets me aggravated is they state that they process by order of received but i know for a fact that is not the case.

Really we have been cheated out of all the other months that have filed because the actual date for inquiries actually should be mid October but because USCIS just decided they were going to slap on another month its only on the end of September for inquiries.

And what really makes me angry (i mean i am happy for those approved and this is not directed at them, but how can they be approving November filers when they have not even finished September / October).  I wish that all the people filing along with all of the immigration lawyers out there could start a petition to seriously have USCIS looked into as no other company would exist if you paid as much as we have to with Fee's etc and have to wait over 10+months for the K1 and then another 5-6+ months for the EAD / AP let alone the wait for GC.

I also wish that every single one of USCIS employees actually got put on a training course or a simulation so they could understand that the paperwork on their desk is extremely important and not just a coaster for their coffee. Its peoples life's who have been placed on hold and are in turmoil because of a ridiculous system that does now allow you to drive, leave the US or even work.  Perhaps if they had to spend a week living life like that they would process the applications a lot faster.

Rant over.

It is way harder for us who went through the K1 and now AOS. More sacrifices, time and money spent, frustration, anxiety and great uncertainty.

It is clear that our struggle is not in the minds of those who define the protocols to follow for adjudication. The agents at USCIS just follow instructions and have no saying, though I admit they could be a little more professional -like going through files IN ORDER, not losing documents and updating the site religiously-. They seriously need to go through some quality control.

Sometimes my wife and I have ideias like writing a letter to major media outlets, or to the possible president candidates for the next election. This situation is not humane, to keep people striped of their rights for so long... and if you look at 2 years ago, this process used to take less than half the time... there is something definitely wrong!

But then I think, would people care about this?

But i understand your frustrations guys and i really hope that you guys who impatiently waiting for the good news from your case did a research and plan before choosing a k1 Visa so that you know what to expect that might happen once you are in the US and do the aos from k1.

wish you all the best

LOL once upon a time before someone called Trump come along the K1 used to be faster... Sadly for those of us that were told the K1 is a faster route sadly got screwed over when we had to wait 10+ months for the K1 then another 5-6 months and still have to wait for our AOS.

Well 2020 is coming up and Karma will work its magic thats all i can say HAHA!

well, I did research... but I started the process in December/17, when the average time to get EAD/AP was 90 days... and nevertheless, my wife does not speak portuguese, so I it would be way harder for her to adapt to Brazil than for me to adapt to the US... and letting the love of my life get away was not an option 🤣

I don't mean to attack your point of view, I knew there were risks in the process... but knowing and living it is different... and we will go on rants, because we are dying of anxiety... but soon it will be over, and we will be happy (hopefully 🤞)

And even if the process had always been like this, it doesn't mean it's right... and people should try to change it to make it better :)

Maybe if the immigration process was less complex, expensive and inefficient there would be less illegal people...

if America has an easy immigration process this country won't be America anymore.

Plus less complex, less expensive, and inefficient means inviting foreigners to live in America for free..

i don't meant to be rude or against with anything..im only saying that try to understand the whole situation and not only what we want.😉

Hey now guys,

There is a thread for hot topics such as politics here:

USCIS needs to get it's sht together. I think there is no doubt that the current administration's new policy and general direction for immigration is not good, but also the system and process for USCIS needs vast improvements. It's 2019 and most of the cases are still relying on paper based filing. That is shocking.

USCIS did attempt to "electronify" their process and the project was supposed to cost $500 million and be completed by 2013. The most recent projections peg the cost at $3.1 billion, with an expected completion date of 2019. (This was based on a Forbes article from 2017. I think this expected completion date and $$$ has increased again)https://www.forbes.com/sites/realspin/2017/02/15/billion-dollar-blunder-immigrants-still-cant-rely-on-uscis-electronic-filing-system/#333963105c37

I think in general there is a lack of oversight on government agencies such as USCIS. Although they have internal audits taking place to assess the effectiveness of the agency's operations, there is a lack of enforcement and almost no repercussions for not delivering timely. There was a report from the Attorney General (OAG) that expressed disappointment with USCIS' failure to deliver and the agency's lack of effort to even cooperate with the audit. If anyone is interested I can dig it up. But it seems like even though the OAG have issued letterS expressing concerns, there hasn't been much positive impact.

Whoa, did not realise a simple rant would turn into a political discussion! Moreover yes I did do my research on the process - yes I am patient but obviously there are bad days.

Simply just came here to rant because I know I'm in a sea of people who are in a similar situation to me and can relate, because, people outside this process... really don't get it.

And sometimes... knowing you're not alone in waiting? Makes it a little easier.
