So my second RFE letter arrived today. I've been worried this whole week that they'd be asking for something we wouldn't be able to provide, but it turns out they just want to see proof that our joint sponsor is a citizen. Annoying to have yet more delay, but this should hopefully mean our nightmare is nearly over!

Well, unless they just took one look at our first response, saw we forgot that and didn't even look at the rest so there's still a chance for a 3rd RFE... 😢

11/12/2017 - Entered US on J1
10/18/2018 - Filed AOS at NBC
12/11/2018 - Biometrics
02/28/2019 - USCIS mailed RFIE on I485
05/09/2019 - USCIS received RFIE response
06/11/2019 - USCIS mailed another RFIE on I485
06/19/2019 - USCIS received 2nd RFIE response
07/24/2019 - I485 ready to schedule for interview
01/22/2020 - I485 interview (in San Jose instead of San Francisco)

Weeeelllll we had our GC interview today at the Atlanta FO. Interviewer had a very strong accent making questions very difficult to understand increasing the pressure. I felt like a well done steak after as we were grilled harshly for a good 30 minutes...mostly about dates of our 15 year friendship that turned into love and marriage in the past 3.5 years. Most of the date questions were directed at my USC hubby who has a traumatic brain injury to boot but he did surprisingly well considering how involved our love story was.

Didnt ask for much evidence of bonafide marriage. He only took 10 photos from us and then my certified criminal record documents for my traffic misdemeanor.

His main concerns were:

1. My criminal charge (which was minor but I was scolded profusely).

2. My hubby's dismissed DV charge (I was surprised about this because he was approved for our I129F and I was warned about it at my K1 interview of course but yet we were still grilled about it now).

3. Whether or not I would be a public charge (we verbally went over my hubby's salary and VA disability benefits. Didnt request an updated I864 which I had. We were well over the 125% by at least 10K (salary and disability benefits) with the initial I864 and then with our updated financial status, by at least 18k. Still got grilled).

4. What day we got married (he must have asked us 7 times each).

He took NO other documents from us other than the aforementioned and our DLs, passports and my hubby's VA card to prove he was honorably discharged from the military.

No original MC.

No Health Insurance/dental/eye care documents.

No joint taxes from 2018.

No joint bank documents.

No vacation receipts.

No lease.

No utility bills.

No joint car insurance.

No DS3025.

No nothing but all of which I had.

Verbally approved and then status changed to "New Card being produced" a few hours later. I would exchange an easy going chatty interview with lots of documents being requested over this one any day.

So tired but so thankful. Whew!

Congratulations from bottom of my heart!🤗 I'm so happy for you! You have done so much for the people in this forum, you have always tried to help everyone to deal with the difficulties that arose, answered very patiently to all questions. I will miss you on this forum if you are no longer present here, because soon you will have a green card for 2 years (I hope sometimes you will appear) Enjoy your new life!

Some slight good news: our joint sponsor was on it immediately and has her birth certificate ready, but then the fax wouldn't go through so she's gonna scan or post it tomorrow, and our lawyer has said that he can try to request an expedite for us, though he doesn't think it'll get approved.

Thank you very much my dear! It's been a long ride for all of us, especially those K1s who filed in 2017 when that process took the longest out of ever before. I'm not going anywhere yet however I do have to get a job and start life soon, lol. I'll be around still. That's after I hibernate in our new bed we just bought that arrives Thursday for a few days. I'm so drained. Feels like I've been hypervigilant for so many months and now I can finally relax for a minute even though I couldnt do much more than sit on my butt. I'm going to do just that. Relax and feel secure.

I hope everyone here and in September, November and December gets that chance soon too❤

That's for sure. We all ended up in this long process of waiting both for a K-1 visa (2017) and for EAD/AP/GC ( 2018).

I hope that all applicants in 2018 will soon receive green cards and forget about this difficult road (which took all forces) at least for 1.5 years, before the next stage. It seems to me that when I receive my documents I will no longer have any moral or physical strength to work, although in October 2018 I was full of enthusiasm. Probably month  I will need to lie on the couch and just look on the ceiling. I fully understand your condition.

I am very glad that, finally, I see it.
But I decided  first to get this card in my hands, to make sure that this is reality, and not a dream. Only after that I can relax.

Congratulations! I just got notice that my wife’s work permit is being produced. Now, all we need is the permanent resident card.
