Thanks for such valuable information. Really appreciate it

While some here are giving you advice and all, let me say from personal experience. Served 6 years, active duty Army, 3 deployments, 2 OIF's and one OEF for half of my six years enlisted. I never completed any degree plan or anything, did not have the luxury of some in the military to go to school during my service, but when I got out went through a job placement agency for former military and I have since day one with this company, for some 7 1/2 years almost, made more than most with a 4 year degree. I work and travel internationally (am in Argentina right now in fact); but I am starting schooling again next month online for a BA then hopefully Masters as long as my GI lasts then just finance it myself.

So when people ask "What's your education like"? Don't think you're doomed or have to settle for less. Experience and all matters a lot to some companies. I had several turn me down for saying "I can read and instruction manual 100 times; but I will learn more in 1 hour hands on" some like it, some don't...

Just keep looking and trying.

Let me add, be sure to look at Criminal Justice programs which have Homeland Security certificates or endorsements. A certificate/endorsement is a set group of classes contained in or added to another degree program. In some cases that makes to degree look a lot like a different degree elsewhere.  I have come to understand that there is a lot of problems adding degree programs but less with an add on.

only 3 years of service is tough, most people who separate from the military atleast did 4 or 6 years.

I'm at 8.5 years so far. For advice, all I can say is extend for 12 or 24 months if you have no idea what you want to do. Also, take advantage of the GI Bill to go back to school.

A lot of helpful information and classes will be covered once you decide to get out anyway.
