Fiance Passport expiration questions

We are waiting for NVC to give us a MNL# and then start with the medical, etc. Her passport is still good until Sept 2019. I just always expect the worst possible government decisions.

My question is should my fiance get a new passport now, or at least try to get an appt (good luck with that) just in case we're still here and the 6 month rule is a problem?

Previously I didn't think there would be a problem but I read something that said that the passport has to be good for 6 months after the date of return to the Philippines, which she isn't returning because we're getting married, but since her visa to the US (if it's approved) will be good for 90 days and if we left the Philippines in January that would put it at 90 days later in April which is less that 6 months from the expiration of her passport.

What I thought before was that when we leave the Philippines they just make sure that it's good for 6 months from the date we leave. So which is correct?

Passport must be valid for 6 months from the time of her flight to the USA.    Which you should have no issue there if your case file is at NVC.   Do you have your MNL# ?

Visa expires upon entry into the USA, legal status after that is the I-94 which is valid for 90 days (time frame for getting married ;)  ) .
