Hi,

After visiting this forum I am very confused which affidavit of support form I am meant to take to my interview. Everyone on here seems to be asking questions about the I-134 but the email I received from the embassy says the I-864 which although callEd the same thing have completely different questions.

I am leaning towards the one I am told to do in the link in the email but I am doubting which one to fill in.

Thanks for any help 😊

According to your profile you are filing for a K1, so therefore the I134 is correct.  The I864 will come later at the AOS stage.  The reason for this is that the I134 is non-binding since the K1 is technically a non-immigrant visa meaning the end result could be that a couple decide not to get married and the beneficiary returns to their country.  The I864 is a binding financial agreement by the USC to support their Now spouse.

Good Luck!

This is copied off the the K1 instructions of the London embassy website,

K and Diversity visa applicants are not required to provide an I-864 Form.  However, they must show evidence that they are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. There is no set form that this evidence must take but use of the form I-134 is an efficient way to provide this information to the Consular Officer.
