Hi - Have a really odd situtation. Been here on L1A visa for 3.5 years and was let go on May 9th from a job I loved.

I Got married to an American in November 2006 but we waited until April 21st to send in our adjustment of status for permanent residency.

I received case # and biometrics appointment and that's good. We got all reply from govt. on April 24th.

However, my questions are,

1) does the L1A visa becomes invalid as the case is received?

2) Is it still considered "adjustment of status" even though my former employer informed the INS about the termination of my employment? (They did this on May 9th)

Any information you may have to shed light on this would be helpful!

Kind regards,

P

Your status changed when USCIS recieved your AOS paperwork and sent you a receipt..... your Status is now Adjustment Applicant (pending).... you can no longer work until you get an EAD (if you filed for one) or until you get your greencard.... Your ex-employer notifing USCIS about the end of your job has no bearing on your AOS....

Not true because L-1 is dual status. However losing one's job does make an L-1 invalid so...

I agree with this.
