Interview more than two years after most recent visit?

Greetings, all!  Just wanted to ask about your experiences with the timing of the interview.

My latest visit with my fiancee was in late November of 2016.  We're trying to schedule our embassy interview for early December of this year.  My fiancee spoke with someone at an emigration agency and they told her that our application would be denied if we interview more than two years after our most recent visit.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The 2 years applied only to - Having met within 2 years of filing the I-129F.

As long as you have proof of a genuine relationship all is good for that area.

Your petition I129F  would be denied if when you file it it has been more than 2 year of meeting in person. That is one of the requirements for applying for a K1 visa. It has nothing to do with the embassy interview.  Your timeline says you filed in 2016. And has never been updated. Did your case go to NVC and reach the embassy?

While the requirements for the I-129f petition is to have met within two years, technically there is no timeline for meeting by the embassy stage... that being said, if it's been 2 plus years, that's a long time to not meet again.

We went about 17 months ourselves before he came over but that was my fault with work. So while it in itself probably wouldn't cause a denial through the embassy in Manila, it might raise a question or two as to why so long.

I'm assuming that you already have the option to choose your embassy date, why would you choose to wait until December? You haven't seen each other for 2 years and don't want to get it over with? On top of this is the fact that you will very likely be questioned for not being together for 2 years. But you still want to wait? Is somebody having 2nd thoughts?

Thanks, Hank!  Yes, we definitely met the "within 2 years of the I-129F requirement.  And we do have solid proof of our ongoing relationship since.

As always, thanks for the help!

Hi, Jenny!  Yes, my apologies for not keeping our timeline updated. Our initial I-129F petition was approved and we've been in a holding pattern for the past two years now (I've been doing the one-every-four-month extension requests).  And now we're FINALLY able to move forward with the next steps!

Thanks for input.  I'll try to update our timeline within the next day or so to provide better data to the community.

Thanks, Ben!  I appreciate your reminder to be ready to explain in our interview why it's been so long.  With your 17-month wait, you can relate!  In our case, it's really been about my having to save up the money to take these final steps.

And yes, Go Ducks!  Nice win over Washington last week.  Let's keep it going!  :)
