No you don't have to. At least we didn't. Just go ahead and get your ds 160 done and medicals/police report. The thing is by the time we already made an appointment that was when they sent us the email saying they were ready. I mean you can wait for them to tell you they are ready if u are not in a haste.

We have a K1 case status that is already "Ready", do we have to wait for the eligibility letter from USEM before we can set an interview schedule?

This is very confusing part. I have heard to someone that you need to have the letter first before you schedule. One of my friend even told me right now that there's 4 persons rescheduled their USEM interview for the fact that they don't have the eligibility letter yet but decided to do their interview. But also some people said that you're good to go as long your status is READY...

Your status is READY.   No you do not have to wait for "the letter" (which is an email now a days maybe check your spam filter) to start the K-1 visa application in Manila.

Here is the process>>   http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

The interview at USEM is probably the easiest Embassy to interview at. We propose that once you get your case number you start the process in the Philippines with the completion of the documents and medical and the gathering of official documents. By the time you have all that done and you feel you are ready for your interview then you should be far enough along that USEM has your case number witness by the fact your case has been set to "Ready". I know of one couple who completed there interview in 24 days from receiving their case number. That's a visa that was approved in 24 days.

If you want this visa, you have to be the one who is charging to get it done. IMHO.

If you have you MNL#   and have your interview scheduled ... yes       (you could print out the CEAC status page showing your MNL#, that makes SLEC happy also)

Yep I got my Manila case number already but it's still at NVC. I can't set an interview yet cos of the fact that my status is not ready yet lol. I'm planning to do it on October 11. I guess I still have 1 more week to wait for my status to change.

You can schedule online without issue (unless something has changed that I am not aware of).   Can't schedule by phone until status is READY

You DO NOT have to wait for your status to change to Ready to complete the before steps (filing of DS-160, paying the interview fee, completing CFO and Medical etc.). You just can't do the interview till the record changes to ready condition. It will take you 2-3 weeks to get this ^ stuff done before it changes and by that time your case will have been set to ready. Trust the process.
