I know how frustrating this is but please do not focus on the process.  Our NOA2 was 270 days for our K-1 last year.  I know how much it hurts.  Your wives and husbands feel it too.  This will take as long as it takes.  Don't waste all of that time stressing over the process.  Talk to your spouse.  Hold each other as close as you can.  Even if the beneficiary doesn't mention it, this is more difficult on them.  Not only are they stuck in this same situation, when it is over they will leave their friends, family, homes to travel to a strange country to be with their loved ones.  This is a long a stressful journey.  Please tell your spouse you love them.  Let them know that everything is going to be OK.  The process does not always seem logical so sit back and let it happen.  Focusing on the process is stealing valuable minutes away from the reason for the process.

Things are moving incredibly fast right now.  CR-1 approvals is less that 300 days is actually amazing with the current priorities.  The change in focus last April threw the brakes on family visas.  It is getting better now.  Sit back and enjoy the fact that every second that ticks by is 1 second closer.

First I appreciate that you gave me a very kind response.

But I have been wondering with Potomac being the fastest service center, should we have at least got a response, they are already on October approvals and I am a September filer 😭

Last year NO NOA2s took place before day 250 and many went over a year.  The timeline for CR-1 is still 12 to 14 months from filing.  Things are moving much quicker now.  I completely understand your feelings.  Last year our K-1 (which is technically considered quicker than CR-1) was 270 days to NOA2.  This time for some unknown reason, our CR-1 petition was approved in just 130 days.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

It doesn't help to always compare yourself to others.  Your time will come and worrying this early is just adding stress.

This is very true. I’m a beneficiary and it’s very hard. My dad is happy for me but also sad his youngest daughter is leaving. My teen sibling has depression and has said to his counsellor that one of things that makes him sad is that I will be leaving. So I’m excited to eventually be with my husband but leaving my family and the place I grew up will be heartbreaking at the same time.

I am stressed that it is taking so long but I am also seeing it as a perfect opportunity to cherish the time with my family. I’d be kind of sad if it was approved within a couple months as I wouldn’t have the chance to savour this time with my family and friends before I leave and not see them for a long time. For anyone who is a petitioner, think of this as time that your spouse can say goodbye to their friends and loved ones, and support each other through all the waiting 😊❤️

Our CR1/ IR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • January 24 2020: I-824 NOA2 (273 days)
  • Feb 5 2020: Approved I-130 Sent to NVC (12 days after I-824 NOA2)

NVC Stage:

  • February 12 2020: Case Received @ NVC (7 days after being sent)
  • February 16 2020: Expedite Request Sent - Financial Hardship

Thank you for sharing that.  That is exactly what I was talking about.  So many petitioners don't open their eyes to the real "big picture".  The stress on the beneficiary is huge and probably more stressful than the petitioner.  In my case I have a wife and two step kids who are leaving the only home they have ever known.  They are leaving their families and friends and because of me, moving to a strange country on the other side of the earth.

Yes, they will have a great life here.  There is more opportunity for them here.  They will eventually feel like part of this country.  They will be able to go back.  It is still tough on them.  We all need to be aware of that.

I am actually the beneficiary and it’s hard that I will have to leave my family and cross over to the other side of the world to be with my husband.

But sometimes all you want is to be with the love of your life by your side. I miss him so bad.

In my experience there is no reason to contact them until your NOA1 date is past on their site.  Right now they claim to be working on April at Potomac and July at Texas.

I will just not pay too much attention to it (which is quite hard honestly). How long is it taking at NVC stage now?

I'm only 4 weeks in and haven't got my number yet.  Best I can tell is it is 3 to 4 months before the interview is scheduled.

Wishing you the best. You are very kind.

I wish you the best too.  My hope is that everyone stop focusing on the process and keep the focus on the loved ones.  I also hope that we all get quick approvals and an easy process!
