EAD - Not Valid For Reentry to US

I've received my EAD card and it says Not Valid For Reentry to US. It's valid from 9/20/18 until 9/19/19.

 

I'm currently on an L1 visa that expires in March, awaiting approval on my I-485 (marriage based).

 

Can I travel outside the USA and reenter?  I'm confused.

 

If I don't get my greencard by March, and my visa expires, can I travel outside the US and reenter?

You need AP to travel abroad without abandoning your AOS application. Edit: I just noticed the L-1 part. L-1 is exempt from this abandonment. See https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/8/245.2.

You should have applied for this (I-131) alongside your I-765 application.

If not, better to file it now than never...send a copy of the I-485's NOA1 in lieu of payment.

If so, you need to wait for a separate AP document to be approved. Normally they issue a combo card if you sent both applications together, but it sounds like you didn't get that.

Hi,

 

Only if you apply advanced parole and EAD you will get a combination card which says "I-512 serves as Advanced Parole". Without this you cannot enter into United States when your application is in process. If you leave the country there is a good chance that your application may get denied. Based on your question I see that your card only serves as EAD so my suggestion will be to not leave United States.
