Sorry, I posted this under exchange forum but this one might be the right place to post it in.

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of filing for the extreme hardship waiver. My program was a one year exchange program sponsored by the DOS. Has any of you had any success getting a waiver with a US sponsored program?
I have read in other forums of people getting no objection waivers with fulbright, that gives me some hope.

Do you know if you're out of Status if you don't get a response by the time your visa expires? or does a pending application gives you the right to stay? I can't find any information on this. Mine expires in a year so I'm a little worried that I won't get it on time to do AOS.

Any advice would be welcome.

DOS Waivers seem unusual, probably depends on your hardship.

Not sure they take that long, so probably not an issue. Without the waiver you have no continuing status to apply for.
