N400 Interview First? Before Hearing about Any I751 Update

Dear all,

I submitted my N400 application based on the 3 year marriage earlier this year, while still waiting for the I751 10 year GC approval. Since then, the only thing I heard about I751 is that it is transferred to a new office.

Now I received an interview notice for N400, which does not mention anything about I751 or requesting my spouse to present for the interview. (I saw in other posts that I should expect a dual interview... but I'm not sure if my notice reflects that. It only says: If applying for NATURALIZATION AS THE SPOUSE of a United States Citizen; • Your marriage certificate. • Proof of death or divorce for each prior marriage of yourself or spouse. • Your spouse's birth or naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship)

I am wondering what I should expect at this point. Say if I pass the interview/exam, would USCIS spend more time look into I751 still? Thank you very much.

We got a letter form the local office about 10 days before my wife's N400 interview saying they would be doing a joint I751 / N400 interview and her Spouse should attend.  This was a month after receiving the N400 interview letter.

To add:  The I751 interview was 3 questions to me (spouse) and 4 questions to her, then "You passed I751, now we will move to the N400 portion"

Timeline

My wife had her combo interview for N400 and i751 about 6 weeks ago. In the notice that we received about 6 weeks before the interview, there was nothing mentioned about removal of conditions nor the pending i751 application. It only had instructions about the N400 interview. At the interview, the IO informed my wife that it was actually a combo interview and he approved the i751 on the spot after a brief interview of me and her together.

Just go to the interview and expect it to be a combo interview. They're not always crisp in their mailed communications.

I am sorry to raise this topic again - to be safe I called USCIS today to confirm that I should expect a dual interview - the officer told me NO, as long as I have married for more than 3 years, it will be N400 only and if I pass, they will cancel the i751 application...

I did not bother her for more details, because she seemed to be busy. However, I want to post it here, to see if anyone has any thoughts. I have never heard that i751 can be canceled.

Thanks a lot.
