Hello all,

I sent my AoS Packet (adjusting from K-1) at the end of July, attended my biometrics appointment already.

In preparing the packet, I followed the instructions and enclosed a copy of my Italian birth certificate, along with a certified translation of the document (I used REV.com, which also issues a Certification of Translation Accuracy and signature).
I never requested an Apostille when I obtained the original document in Italy, because the instructions never mention it.

Was it an implicit action to take that I completely missed?

To be sure, I will request a new birth certificate with Apostille and will take it with me on the day of the interview (I know they will request the original for that occasion), but is there any chance I may expect a RFE for not enclosing it in the packet?

This doubt came up talking to other Italian applicants who did have an Apostille on their birth certificate. I was entirely sure I did everything right, the thought of the Apostille didn't even cross my mind, not being specified anywhere.

Thank you!

I did not do this either and did not receive an RFE either (just received an interview date).

I have also sent a copy of a copy of my birth certificate. My country does not allow you to keep your actual birth certificate (it remains in the city you were born in at all times), and you can only get one with an apostille to certify it is a real copy. So I copied that copy on my scanner and submitted that.

I will bring that "original copy" to the interview. It is the closest form of proof I have.

I think only the marriage license needed to be a certified copy for AOS, EAD, and AP. I just asked for multiple versions when I had to do it back then.

Nothing else was certified in my case.

Same with USC birth certificates. I just sent in a regular copy of his birth certificate. They accepted that at K1 and AOS stage.
