Civics Test - All answers or just one?

Hello all,

I’m learning the civics test for my interview and have got almost all the questions memorised and learned. However, I have a quick question. Some of the questions specifically ask for “name one of” or “name two of”. But on the questions like: “what is the rule of law” there are multiple answers and the question doesn’t specify how many to answer EG.  (leaders must obey the law, everyone must follow the law, no one is above). Do I need to learn and say all answers? Or just one from the list and each list in respect of other questions laid out similar.

Thanks.

  • You do not need to study all possible answers if the question is something in that nature - for example "What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?". However, it won't hurt if you can study all.
  • Normally, the test is quite simple for young adults or anyone who can speak English well :) good luck with the interview.

I’m confused by your first bullet point. So for a question like my example above. I’m only required to learn one answer of the options, even if there are multiple options unrelated to each other? Another example is the question: who makes federal laws and the answers are: the senate and the house, congress and legislature. Do I have to answer all three or just one of those three?

^^This. Just 1.

For "Where is the Statue of Liberty?", certain wrong answers are acceptable. Below are the correct options:

  • New York
  • New York Harbor
  • Liberty Island
  • near New York City [Liberty Island is an exclave of the borough of Manhattan in NYC]

Below are wrong but acceptable options:

  • New Jersey
  • on the Hudson River

Your Input Is Appreciated On This VJ Guide Proposal:

This is the video for civic test that I studied. This is easy to understand and easy to memorize. If the question is asking you to give one answer just pick one answer that you can easily remember. You don't need to memorize everything in that specific subject. If the question ask you like "There were 13 original colonies name 3", so just name 3 that you can easily remember.

Thanks for the video and the explanation. I understand if it specifies one or two or three answers that I have to give that many. But there are a couple of questions like “why did the colonists fight the British” where it doesn’t say “give one”. This question has three different answers. (High taxes, because the army stayed in their houses and because they didn’t have self government). My question is, do I need to say all 3 as it doesn’t specify how many or just one still.

No. Just choose one answer.
