Hi

I know there's docs to prep for the interview;  but once that is done, and visa is obtained,

and my kids and I go over and I'm married, ... what then?

I know there's the AOS - what is the process for my kids regarding that? And for me? - is it a similar process as for the K1?

When can I start working and earning? And what are the costs involved for my kids, in the AOS process?

So many questions! I just want to be prepared financially.

* Moved from K-1 Progress Reports to AOS from K-1/K-3 forum since the question is about the AOS process *

Guide: https://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Fees (https://www.uscis.gov/i-485)

K-1 holder and K-2s age 14 and older:

I-485: $1140 + $85 biometrics = $1225

I-864/I-131/I-765: No fee

K-2 holders under age 14 filed at the same time as the K-1 applicant:

I-485 $750

I-864/I-131/I-765: No fee

Read all guides, forms, and instructions in full unttil you understand them. Ask specific questions as needed.

I-765 (EAD / Work authorization) + I-131 (AP / Travel permission) are taking ~4-6 months right now on average. So time until you can work is [entry date] + [time until you marry and file for AOS + EAD + AP] + ~4-6 months.
