Hi Guys,

Me and my son(30 mos/USC) will be traveling to the Philippines in 10 days and will be staying there for 2 months.I wanted to ask what other documents do I need to bring aside from the TEMPORARY GREENCARD I have in my passport?I am in the process on removing my 2 Years CGC and still waiting for my new GC.

Hope you can help.

Thanks a lot!

Conditional* not temporary...it's every bit valid as a 10 year card (which is also "temporary" as it has a given expiration date too).

Passport for ID, green card as a travel document, and evidence linking those 2 (i.e. if there is a difference in names).

Passport, your conditional green card and your 12 or 18 month extension letter.  Make sure you are carrying the original letter and not a copy.  I made that mistake and the CBP officer was not pleased I had a copy.   As well, make sure that your travel dates do not exceed the date in your extension letter.

Ah yes, I missed that the OP had filed for ROC. So the existing green card is only valid with the extension letter showing that it has been extended (assuming it is expired already or will be before their return).

I have not received any letter of 12-18 months extension. All they gave me is I-551 stamped(temporary pass)in my passport stating that I have a pending green card and it valid for another year and they didn’t gave me back my old CGC when I asked the officer if I can get my Old ID back he said I cannot used it since I’ve got my Temporary pass in my passport.

Just to add I’m in the process of changing my maiden name to married surname to all my USCIS official documents like my new GC.

Make sure you bring your marriage license as well and show that to immigration when you get to the Philippines

Ok, so your i551 stamp acts the same as a green card and extension letter.  So you are good as long as you bring your marriage cert. And you complete your travel before August 2019.

So far,I have those requirements .Idid a little research over “797 NOA”,I knew from the very start that this is Receipt is the same as the “Extension Letter” (which will be expire in Nov.2018) coz apparently this Immigration Officer told me that this 797 NOA is not the extension letter which made me confused so i told him that’s all I got from their office(USCIS).

Thankful we have this kind forum and you have guys to answer all my questions.

Our mistake was not having the 12 to 18 months extension letter - didn't even know it existed since we acquired her GC in the USA 25 years beforehand. Good advice!
