My husband received the welcome notice e-mail last week on the 10th, but last night we got another e-mail saying that the EAD card production was ordered. Is this typical and what does it mean? I apologize if there is another thread addressing this question, but after going through the most recent threads I didn't see anything. I do realize that when the Perm. Resid. card is received then the EAD is no longer necessary. But I just find it odd that he would receive an EAD after the AOS was approved. I guess the service centers don't talk to each other.....

That is very odd, but I guess, somehow both the applications were approved at the same time.

I wouldn't worry about it.... once you receive the GC, you don't need the EAD anyways.

If the EAD card has a photo, I would use it as an identification document, to reduce the chances to loose the GC.

If the EAD card has a photo, I would use it as an identification document, to reduce the chances to loose the GC.

You are required to have your Green Card on you at all times. EAD isn't a substitute, so I fail to see how it can reduce the chances of you losing your Green Card?
