Paying MRV

Hi everyone.

I've set up my interview but have only managed to pay the courier fee and have not found an option to pay the MRV fee. I understand this is a somewhat common problem. The process was done through the 'green' Immigrant visa pages on the website. Have I messed up? Was it meant to be through the blue non-immigrant page? The email confirmation states the interview is for an immigrant visa.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Your case is processed by the Immigrant Visa Unit, so yes it's the green page. The non-immigrant unit is for the rest of the visas who will not stay in the US. Your status on CEAC will switch  over and say non-Immigrant at the last minute before your visa is issued. So carry on working as Immigrant for now.

 Yes you missed a step. Go find the  four steps on the K1 instruction of the London embassy website.

Open Step 4 and it tell you what to do in what order.

Did you do this first?

  • Select “I have received a letter from the consular section with instructions to register or schedule a K visa appointment”;

I did choose that option. At the bottom of my summary page it says "check Ds-260" so I think I probably messed up. I did go through those threads just now so I'm thinking I will cancel the appointment and redo the process. Thanks for your reply.

I have solved it:

I did make a mistake. When setting up the appointment I stupidly chose an option other than the K visa option. This is because when you go to the website, the K option is the second on the list. Once you have set up an account, it becomes the third option. Even if you always triple check, check again you have the right one. I just got used to choosing the second option whilst trying to set up an account.

You 100% have to pay before getting an interview date. If you did not get the payment page, you've done it wrong! The biggest warning sign for me -aside from not paying- was the status of my DS-260. Of course for us it is DS-160. If you need to rearrange, you do not need to create a new account- it is an easy fix. It is a simple matter of cancelling your appointment and removing yourself as an applicant using the little cog on the bottom right of your applicant summary (where you have all the details), and just doing the process again.

You do not get the money back for the courier, of course, if you paid for it already. At least it isn't the actual MRV fee you are paying twice.

They will let you pay on the day at the embassy.

From interview review May 2018:

I was then instructed to pay for my visa, which I hadn't done yet. For that I went to the stall at the very end, where I parted with the $265 visa fee which I had got the money out for last week. With that I was given a reciept to give to my interviewer when I was next called up.

From interview review June 2018:

He let us know that we would have to pay cash for the visa. That came as a surprise to me because I thought a card would be fine. Luckily, we happened to be carrying enough cash with us!

We paid the fee and sat down again to wait for the official interview.
