Some questions regarding medical

Hello everyone :)

I just had a couple questions regarding the medical at Knightbridge.

The first - 7 years ago I had a bout of depression, no self harm, nothing major, was just put on medication for roughly 3 years (came off them in 2014), do I need to get something from my doctor saying that mentally I'm okay and have been okay for 4 years now? I'm not even sure if it will come up on my patient summary record anymore. The medication isn't on my patient record either.

The second - One of the questions is "Have you ever been hospitalized (including psychiatric admission)?" does this include operations? I've had two operations, one for removal of tonsils and the other I had half my thyroid removed.

Thank you for your help!

1) Yes.  You will take in a medical questionnaire and fill out another there. Unless you fail to mention depression on the surveys, they will want a write up from your GP.

2) Yes. Include the operations in what your doctor writes up. They want to see it i doctor terms with specifics of when, why, any ongoing meds, etc.

I had a similar thing for depression. I went to my GP and asked for a straightforward letter saying I was mentally well. They will usually charge you £10 for it. Even though it is years and years ago it is still on my medical summary.

Thanks for the help guys - I'm going to head to my doctors tomorrow to get my patient summary and at the same time I'm going to ask them to write me a letter stating I'm absolutely fine mentally.

Better to be safe than sorry!

hey,

the letter they want is more in depth details about the diagnosis, medication if any, when the medication ceased, and then lastly your current state. everything on your patient summary needs explaining by them if listed as a significant issue.

I’m going to request my medical history today (they wanted the request in writing so I probably won’t receive my history until Friday 😒) so I’ll see what it says before requesting a letter. I’m getting quite anxious about it, is it a grounds for them to fail your medical on?

no not at all. don't worry. I have a whole history of mental health issues, and all they need to do is cross the t's and dot the i's. you don't need your whole history either although having it doesn't hurt. all they want is your patient summary and then a letter describing any of the significant issues on that, and a statement regarding your current health.

Thank you so much for your help! I put in a couple of letters to my doctors today - one asking for my patient summary and the second asking for them to describe more information about my mental health issues that have happened in the past, what medication etc, and how I’m doing now with no medication.

I saw also on my medical records that I have a blackout listed as a problem, but I have some hospital letters explaining this was because of low blood sugar, so hopefully it’ll all be smooth sailing!
