Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone who has done the K1 process in Australia can give me some info about the way the US consulate in Sydney deals with the AFP police checks?

I tried to get a AFP fingerprint check done but I live in a rural town that has a lot of problems with crime so the local police always said they never had time to do my prints.

So, I went and did the name check instead, which the US consulate says is acceptable as long as you list all the aliases I've ever used, well, I've only ever used the name on my

birth cert so that's the only name I put on the police check. Is that going to be enough for the consular officers or are they going to reject it because I only have one name on the

police check?

Thanks in advance!

Other people on this forum who have gone though Sydney have said that doing the name check one is fine, just make sure it's a full disclosure (includes spent too)

Code 33

Code 33

Oh no, mine says only standard disclosure, all recorded UNSPENT offences.

I did that one because that's the one the AFP says I have to do for visa checks, every other type was for commonwealth employment.

Does it absolutely need to be spent and unspent? 😳

Well anyway, I went and did the Code 33 Police Check online and forked out another 42 bucks 🙄

I hope I'm out of the woods this time. It just seems pretty strange that the US consulate instructions on their website doesn't explicitly outline

that the police check must list all offences, spent and unspent, for it to be acceptable. I would think that would be something worth mentioning

but apparently not, this whole processes is stressing me out because of how vague and unclear some of the instructions are from these

government bodies :bonk:

It's better to be safe with the code 33 :). Just from what I've researched I remember another Australian saying they had to get a code 33 so that it included the full disclosure. Good luck and I hope the stress ends soon.

Hello,

I emailed them prior to doing mine and the AFP replied

"You would choose the Commonwealth employment/Purpose for your Purpose Type and then Code 33 for Immigration/Citizenship as your Purpose of Check."

Mines a name check only, came saying "Complete Disclosure" and "All recorded offences released".

Hope that's enough!
