Sorry for the late reply well we wanted to be marry so that he wouldn't have to wait so long to work. At this moment I'm gathering up as much evidence as I can but if I'm going to be denied because of not enough visit time then I can wait.

@amerson yes definitely get more time in if your significant other is from Ghana...Just like Nigeria, Ghana is no joke..My husband is from Nigeria and we did get married on my second visit, but I made to sure to get plenty of face time with him after we got married...As one stated, go read up on the Ghana forum so you will have an idea on what to expect.

You've got some time to do lots of study and learn what is needed in the way of relationship evidence.  Note that "evidence of meeting in person..." is a fiance visa requirement.  Obviously, a married couple has met in person or they wouldn't be married.

The best and strongest evidence of a bona fide relationship is evidence of time spent together in person.  Depending on all the circumstances, including your relative ages etc. you may want to think about having more time together than a couple short visits two years apart.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

A Warning to Green Card Holders About Voting

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/606646-a-warning-to-green-card-holders-about-voting/

Posted (edited)

Even if you hadn’t changed phones and still had access to every single message, this is not “proof” of anything, least of all a bona fide marriage. At most it proves you have a working phone.

You need to provide evidence, not proof, of a bona fide marriage. There is no such thing as “proof” because only a mind-reader could know what your true intentions are. And USCIS doesn’t employ mind-readers. Messages and texts are low on the scale of quality evidence. Focus on stronger evidence such as time spent together. The more time spent together, the stronger your case. Seriously, changing your phone is the least of your worries when dealing with immigration and bringing someone from Ghana.

You have an uphill struggle ahead of you, even more so if you fall into any of the stereotypical “red flag” situations for Ghana:

- USC is white

- USC is female

- USC is more than 10 years older than the intending immigrant (the bigger the age gap, the more of an issue it will be)

- the intending immigrant has previously attempted to get into the USA either as a student or as someone else’s fiancé or spouse

- getting married after a very short amount of time spent together in person (it matters not how many hours, weeks, months, years you’ve been chatting online - time spent together in person is what counts)

- the USC has sent money to the intending immigrant (not for birthdays or Christmas but because the intending immigrant has asked for help with bills and other payments)

For each of the above that apply to you, your case just got that bit more difficult.

Oh wow then we can't get marry then😒

you can marry but do not do  this on 1st visit / 1 st time u meet him

do not take photos of any engagement party as they assume that is a marriage there

do read the portal for Ghana / portal is at top of home page to click on

do read the embassy reviews and be familar with the issues you will face

do know the reuirements like the 125% poverty income requirements for a spouse visa

and understand most financee visas for that country are denied

follow the Ghanian members and their timelines

get your information from them as they best know what you will face in this process

I’ve sent photos, boarding passes, and affidavits to my uscis application. Nothing submitted to NVC as proof and day at interview the officer did not ask for any evidence!!! But Ghana is another different story.. it’s not about showing chats but spending time together, lots of it!! Focus on that for a positive future approval

depending on the country muliple meetings may help, but i included lots of pics, boarding passes, i have been with my fiance almost 5 years. we included a few screenshots for each month, from 18 months to current and all the call logs, we even included pifuture spouse is pics from video chats and call log details showing most calls last over an hour, ask people from the same country your future spouse is from, they will give you the best details,

I am confused about the screenshots of chat history and call details. While taking the screenshots, do we need to show the actual number of my hubby or can we just show the nickname on which I have saved my hubby's number. I hope u got my question.

If you are not LEGALLY MARRIED do NOT refer to your fiance as your hubby.

USCIS or the consulate see that anywhere, or hear it when speaking with you, and your petition will be denied and youll HAVE to get married and file a CR1.

Hi I'm new to the group my question is me an my fiance have been talking for three years we have decided to get marry next year 2019 I have a problem due to me changing phones I don't have any of my chats from the time we started talking in 2014 thru 2016 I have try to recover the ones we frist started chatting on Facebook but no luck, the only ones I have is some on FBI which is 2016 an 2018 an some on WhatsApp my question is will that be a red flag since I can't find those chats. Need help!!

Its okay ,doesnt matter you dont need it all. You just need to show them efficient proof  even year or two will work as well. You dont need to rovide them all the chat details from all these years. But please do provide other supporting evidences for your bonafide marriage.

Please take some time to read through the Ghana portal here...especially the Consulate Reviews. As others have mentioned Ghana is one of the most difficult embassies to get through. It requires a lot more effort and evidence to be successful.

My husband and I had to go through the visa process twice. Our K1 was denied, our CR1 was approved. I made 5 trips in 2 years because time spent together is the absolute best evidence you can submit when going through the Ghana embassy.

Please also look through my review. I listed every piece of evidence I submitted during each phase. You’ll see it was a lot. What some people can submit with their petition is much less than what is needed to submit for Ghana. You need to plan on sending plenty of quality evidence at every phase of the process. The COs there often make up their mind before you even step foot in the embassy for the interview.

Again please do your research. Unfortunately just because your man comes from Ghana, you face a difficult challenge from the beginning.

Ur right! I'll be going to Ghana again in the next 3 weeks to celebrate my bday with him. This will be my 4th trip. And I'll be there for his interview totalling 5 trips. We are currently awaiting our approval.
