A US Visa has more to do with him supporting you. Yes there are fees involved that will need payment but I dont think your status has as much to do with it.

I'm not as familiar with DCF (direct consular filing) but I'm sure someone else on here can help you with your questions.

You had mentioned not wanting to be separated and that takes about a year off your wait time for just a couple more months in the UK

Thank you, I’ll have to look into that too. I’m considering all options, just in case.

P.S. My answer about my benefits was just in reply to the question of applying for my husband to come here, but I appreciate your help, thank you. 😊

Uk does not allow Joint Sponsors, sounds like you would need to get a job. US does allow joint sponsors.

Can you go file your papers at the consulate Monday? He can stay a bit longer and cancel your trip?  Youd have your visa by the end of the year and never be apart....

You are one of only 7 countries that offers filing through the consulate you should take advantage and just stay in UK 2 more months and it's done

It doesn't work that way. He, the USC, has to be a real resident of the U.K. for at least six month. Being there as a tourist does not count. He can't get residency there because she does not make enough money to bring him as a resident. Co-sponsors are not allowed. It has to be her UK employment and she does not seem to be working because of health issues.

Or if she has £62,500 cash savings (Over $82,000) that will work.

Thank you. I wasn’t sure it would work that way, but I’m not sure of much about most of this.

it is possible for me to bring my husband over with me being on benefits, but I’m just not sure about whether I need to be getting a certain amount or not. A lady from an immigration charity who helps with all this kind of thing told me that because I’m getting a certain benefit, it’s possible. I’d need to check with her on that.

Yeah, I knew about the UK not doing co-sponsorship. I can’t get a job because of my health issues. In my previous reply, I mentioned about the benefit situation. I saw your reply after that. Thanks.

If you are planning on moving here to be with him, I hope he can afford it. You would not be eligible for any benefits here at all until you become a citizen - if you do that. And on top of that he will need to provide health insurance of some kind for you. This is not a good place to be sick or disabled. You are much better off having him go to the U.K. I’m wondering if your benefits meet the income guidelines. Must be reasonably good if you can afford to fly long-distance twice a year. I don’t know the income requirements exactly but I believe it’s around £18,500 a year? Perhaps you could get a job working from home on a computer? My job doesn’t involve much more than talking on a phone and using a computer. Occasionally I have to walk 20 steps to the printer.  Most office jobs are like that and many companies take customer service people on with no prior experience. Home-based working is becoming more popular now.

He has spent 5 months in the UK on Holiday so I assume money is not an issue,.

And if she comes to the US she probably wont get UK benefit checks any more.

Cheques

Not even sure they issue them any more but yes they are dependent on her being UK resident.

I’m sure you don’t love each other any less. Im sorry you’ve had to spend so much time apart. 💞

My husband is a US citizen and I’m a UK citizen. We got married in March this year in Florida. I spent several weeks there, then he came back with me for 6 months. He goes back on 22nd October. I’m going too for a visit for 4 weeks. I’m dreading the end of it, though, as I don’t know when or how we’ll next see each other. I keep crying about it. It’s been a tough year, for many reasons, so this is even harder than it would have been for me. We’ve grown closer and hate the thought of being apart for even a day.

You have it better than most, trust me. At least you and your husband can go visit each other. My husband is a Moroccan national and isn't even allowed to the US without some type of visa which is extremely difficult to obtain for them. I'm here in Morocco now and leave in two days. We both been crying cuz we won't even be able to see each other again until next Spring when and if that's when he is contacted for his interview. Consider yourselves lucky.

To OP and others who have posted on this thread, the time apart from someone you love more than anything in the world, plus the complexity and uncertainty of the US immigration process, sucks.  Every country has its laws to protect its sovereignty and borders, and those of us who fall in love across borders have to deal with all the bureaucracy.  The emotional strain is awful.  But we have Visa Journey to come and ask questions of each other and vent and show support for each other.  It really does help to know that others are struggling with the same issues, fighting for love, crying after the sad goodbyes.  Hang in there everybody.  If you really want to be together, you will find a way, somewhere, sometime.  It's all worth it to be with the one you love!

Indeed. It’s truly mind draining and heart breaking.
