Renting an apartment on a K1 visa?

So my fiance arrived a few weeks ago on her k1 and we're looking to relocate to Chicago from Minneapolis, but I don't have a job there yet. My fiance works remotely as a translator and we're wondering if we can use her income for an apartment? Also, would she be able to go there a little earlier and rent if I sign it with her?

It depends on the landlord or property management. When my wife came here and we moved cross country the property manager of a apartment we applied to pulled her credit report even though she didn't have any credit. So I had to sign for the whole thing.

Is your fiancee authorized to work already?

She works remotely for her previous company that's based in Russia.

That’s not permitted unless she has an EAD. Matters not where the company is located. She is working in the USA without permission.

Really? We're applying for the AOS soon. Will they be able to know she was working?

Of course. She has been reporting her income to the IRS, I assume....
