Trouble is, the government has already spent the money. All tax cuts mean is that the government will have to raise taxes sometime in the future, in order to pay for them.

So maybe cutting some of the government spending is in order.

This instance they obviously  did not have knowledge

And you still don't know how much knowledge the voters had.. but the facts that you are calling GOP voters undereducated is priceless.

Awesome!  Let’s assume you dropped one tax bracket.  At 2.5%, you will bring home about $2.08 more per month for every $1,000 you earn. (Roughly $1,250 more in your pocket at the $50,000 income level).

Plus the child tax credit.

Plus you will get a $12,000 reduction in income.  At the 9% ETR, that’s another $1,080 in your pocket.

So a person earning about $50K will realize find about $3,300 more in the bank at the end of the year.  Not too shabby.

On top of that, if a person does their W4 wisely, and increases the exemptions to around 5-8, they will increase their monthly income, and reduce the interest-free loan they are (typically) giving the government every year.  If you get a tax return that is greater than about $100-500, you are doing it wrong.  Better to owe the IRS around $100-500 every tax season.

Ehhh... No.. I'm only saving a few percentage points according to every new tax reform calculator.

Its really nothing special, and is realative small vs. what the large corporations got. The tax releif was supposed to go with a higher wage from our employers.

I work for one of the largest corporations in the world and they didn't even buy me a birthday card. Lol

Trust me, you’re getting everything I outlined above, unless you also received a raise that put you in a higher tax bracket this year.

”A few percentage points”... therein lies the rub.  4% of $50K is $2,000.  Roughly a $1 per hour raise.  But 4% of $50 mil... of course that’s a bit more, eh?

My point is, the majority of Americans will have more disposable income in 2018 vs 2017.  If they are not happy with their amount they are saving, they can always pay what they did in 2017 and not request a refund.  That’s always an option.

I understand the math.. a few percentage points is nothing compared to how much the businesses gained from this tax bill..

>10%

Millennials are going to be the ones paying off these tax breaks in the future.. and let's not talk about how the individual tax breaks are merely temporary.

Well, let’s face it... it costs more to buy things nowadays than it used to.  Unless we elect officials who are willing to lower the debt, by reducing the deficit, which means (among other things) lowering their salaries... it ain’t nevah gonna happen.  Not as long as congress gets to vote on their own raises, or opt out of the ACA like they do now.

If you want to lose weight, there are only two basic principles one need apply (well, three)... take in less calories than you burn, or burn more calories than you take in by working out, or a combination of the two.

Just like losing weight, there are only TWO ways to fix our debt problem.  Stop spending more than we make, or make more money than we need.

Loosing weight and getting rid of debt are two different things lol, but I get what ya mean.

This spend now, and kick it down the road to our children has to stop.  If older generations are going to spend money, it should be for investments that will pay dividedends. Such as education, infrastructure, and rec centers. Not a 3% tax break that will only last 10 years.

Let's be smart about our deficit spending..

Except that tax revenues are up since the cut.

You nailed it.  Unfortunately, no one sitting in a position of power to MAKE it happen will WANT to make it happen, from what I have seen.

All government spending is social services?  Maybe we can enact a sustainability standard with any new program that is proposed.

So do we do a sustainability report before or after the Republicans cut taxes for the uber wealthy?

No one else got a tax cut?  How do you cut taxes to the poor that don't pay taxes, or the middle class without cutting taxes to the top brackets?  We do have a progressive tax system.  As to the wealthy are you insinuating they do not deserve to keep more of what they worked hard to get?  I suppose socialism/communism would be a much better system.

John Stoseell kind of addressed this in his book. You do have a valid somewhat of a point. We spend Billons every year subsidizing rich people to build homes in hurricane paths at the beach.  Just one of his examples.
