So I was reading someone’s else’s case that got denied the other day in Mumbai .. CO asked for proof of wedding plans , guest details , venue booked etc. But how is that possible when we don’t even know a date of wedding ?

You're right they do not! I'm just curious how they will contact us and what is the best means to contact them

Go to CEAC website, if the case status is ready email the Mumbai consulate, they will send the packet 4 in email and they will also mention the date on which they sent a post mail to you, you can check the consulate website for packet 4

What we planned on doing was showing a packet I got from the venue we plan on using to show "wedding plans." It gave details about services, dining options, pictures, etc. Also, I created a wedding website using Zola which shows wedding plans, however no set dates. Screenshots from the website I thought would help! Because you're both right! I can't "write the check" for anything yet until I know when he's been approved.

I was asked about our wedding plans, and it was easy to answer because we have had wedding plans since the last one year! We had submitted a solid statement with intent of marriage with the petition, so I think that served its purpose as well. I told the officer the location of our new apartment, the name of the courthouse we will be getting married at, and the number of guests that we are inviting. I showed him the diamond engagement ring on my finger, also showed him a copy of the wedding invite I have designed (he didn't ask for either, but I still offered). You really do need to have some wedding plans otherwise it's hard to convince them about your intentions. Think in advance and try to provide some proof at least. Good luck :)

@Lonegirl, Thankyou. Do you think showing ring or ring exchange photos would confuse CO as wedding ? Someone else has mentioned abt that somewhere. But I’m india engagement / ring exchange being common before wedding I hope it won’t be an issue

We didn't have an engagement ceremony, so I had no pictures to provide of that. I only showed the ring on my finger that he had proposed to me with. I don't think ring exchange pictures will be an issue, but I would suggest to NOT show pictures unless asked for. If they don't ask for pictures, don't offer. From what I saw at the consulate, candidates who are too eager to show pictures raise suspicion. Make sure to take all proof with you, but offer only when they ask. Right? Also, engagement pictures don't qualify as wedding plans. Even if you show proof of engagement, you still need to convince them about your wedding plans.

Why set yourself up for problems. Don't show the photos of rings or celebrations. Just picture with family and traveling together is enough.

@Greenbaum and everyone, we didn't have any ceremony, but he bought a diamond ring for me after the case was forwarded to NVC, is it safe to take the pictures and the receipt with date showing it as a part of the wedding plan

@Greenbaum, on getting documents ready for interview I hve a few questions. Please help me solve this

1. I hve already submitted separately signed intent of marriage with I-129 , but we need a new one right ? Does it have to be notarized ?

2) I have already submitted how we met from both of us , do we need another one for interview ?

3) Only need the form 1090 from the tax papers right ? Do not need the entire papers ?

TIA
