Hello All,

Recently people who have traveled to US after K1 approval did you have any problem while going from India because of a one way ticket? I have heard airlines staff create a problem because of the one way ticket?

You can use a round trip or a one way ticket, it makes no difference but the cost. If the round trip is cheaper then buy it and not use the second half or return. Just stand your ground that you are immigrating to the US and there is no need to have a return ticket. If you act weak you'll get pushed around. JMO

Thanks a lot @Shubiepinky , i was not sure regarding this bcz they have shifted K1 visa interview to mumbai , so i am wanting confirmation regarding medicals that still can we do that in Delhi or not ? Did you or anybody did thr medical recently in delhi ?

I believe this may help.

Here is the letter that you will receive from Mumbai Embassy. Read it over carefully and follow the instructions. Another member of VJ added some additional information contained below which outlines what he experienced.

Once you received your case number from NVC,  I would recommend you fill out DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just waste of time same thing they have mention which you easily get from USCIS website when you called to the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.

Go on USCIS website make your account with password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you reference number. With that number you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to  keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.

Hi,

When address needs to be verified it takes minimum of 40 days it can take upto 60 days. Sorry but it’s a government thing and  the system is very weak in UP. Even @Shubiepinky faced the same problem.

If yoy know anyone or have contacts use them otherwise it can take longer plus when is your interview?

No medical required at VAC, have someone with you hold all items as you can only take paper and copy of printed appt confirmation from online. There are expensive lockers and copy center next door usually (at least in Mumbai). I grabbed a coffee in the lobby next door and checked email while Prasad went and he was done in 15min.

IndiaAnnie what’s VAC? Is that the fingerprint appt ? When are we supposed to get that done ? We r still waiting for NOA2 but got confused with this step when reading this thread. So after medical , he needs to get biometrics at Mumbai & then interview , is that right ? How do we schedule for VAC ?

Yes, VAC is the biometrics/fingerprint appointment, you can get it done anytime before the Consular Interview at the embassy, at least 24 hours before the interview. He can get it done before or after the medical doesn't matter. VAC and Consular Interview are scheduled together after creating your profile on USTravelDocs with your case# and DS-160 confirmation number.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

@ds2, Thankyou. He’s from south India so we should plan on staying at Mumbai for 2-3 days to get VAC & then interview.. is VAC done at the counsulate too ?

Yes he should plan to stay for 2-3, he can try and stay in BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) or anywhere as he can always Uber. Both the VAC and the Consulate are at different locations but only a km apart from each other in BKC.

He can get the biometrics appointment get done on the first day itself and schedule the consular interview the day after.

As the day approaches I’m getting a little worried ,as my main source of income is SSDI ( not welfare but disability income as I had a work place injury ) & employer pension ( as I had to retire prematurely) . My income is way above the guidelines but I’m worried if Mumbai counsulate staff is familiar with this income source. As it’s not taxable my tax return won’t show any. I also hve more than 30K liquid cash to show but still worries about it.

@ds2, could you please correct me if I’m wrong in understanding of the next steps

1. Once NOA2 approved call NVC till I get the case #

2. Hve fiancé apply for PCC

3. At Uscis website ( is that right ) fill DS160 & pay the fee

4. Call clinic for medical

5. Go to ustraveldoc site to schedule for biometrics & interview.

6. Contact embassy directly if packet4 hasn’t received

Am I right with the sites to follow ? Does the petitioner get confirmation letter from

NVC once it’s send to embassy ?

Thanks a lot
