Hello.

I know most petitioners attend the visa interview with their beneficiary but most probably my Fiance (the petitioner) won't be able to attend my interview because of work issues. Do you think that could cause any problems?

It is no where written that you need to attend the interview with the petitioner. Even if the petitioner is with you at the time of interview, he/she might not be able to say something to the CO at the time of interview or stand next to you at the interview window unless the CO says so.

The interview is for beneficiary and you should only attend the interview, I also thought that the chance of approval might be more if my petitioner is with me but I think that is not the case. So relax and give the interview by your own.

Hi,

Thanks so much for helping me out. So I take it you went to the interview alone without the beneficiary?

This will not cause any problems. Think about the process. Everything is done from afar. The only requirement is that you meet one time within 2 years of filing. There isn't any instructions that there is any other face to face to each other or that the petitioner needs to make the trip to the interview. I'm not sure why you have a concern.

No one can say for sure if it has any affect on the interview if the petitioner is present but it does send a strong message that he/she is there for support and that has to carry some weight. But, on the other hand there are millions getting approved without the petitioner. So, either way works and you should not have a cause for concern.

I would add that if you had a very difficult Embassy with a higher rate of denials then it would be my recommendation that if the petitioner could attend I would HIGHLY recommend it.

I went in without my petitioner, he stayed outside the embassy..i don't think it has any affect on your interview..some people who came in with their petitioners got denied or in AP so don't stress too much..I got a feeling that the CO already made his/her decision before starting the interview, this is just my observation i could be wrong ..GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks @Greenbaum  But I have no idea whether US Consulate, Mumbai is difficult or not? The reviews I have read here very varied and I have not been able to judge this part.

I would say your Embassy is not a problematic Embassy. There are tons of your countrymen leaving all the time so I wouldn't concern myself with this issue. Your overthinking this process. It's so easy but everyone makes it so hard on themselves by created something there that is not there.

👍 this is what I thought and had experienced since 20 years from others, but they only change their decision if you seem little not what they think u are when in person. So there is 5% chance they might change the decision, but as long as we do our part correctly as @Nikki&pat said you should be fine and don't overthink. My fiance interview is on Dec 7, 2018

Im bit confused @Shubiepinky and @A_R they have added 01 bmb at the end of my case so when ill put the whole case number it should include that or only bmb2018****10 or after case is ready bmb2018****10 01 bmb

The extra characters are if the beneficiary has any dependents.. I guess u guys might have figured it out but since this a forum I wanted to write explicitly bcoz there will be record for future viewers

First K1 appointments are only on Fridays in Mumbai at 7:30 AM not sure whether every Friday or not and appointments open 2 months prior . So for Dec 21 it had opened yesterday around 11 AM n they were booked by EOD.

So now for Dec 28, try form Sunday onwards as it will  be close to 2 months . Try 3-4 times everyday. As for earlier appointments in November even I want that but those will be emergency appointments n generally emergency appts open only 5 days  before, meaning for Friday they will only open on Sunday or if our luck is good n a regular slot opens up n we can book it.

For medical even if you don't have your P4 , you can go with Visa Interview confirmation  but best to go with both if you have time.

Can we book appointment for Medical and OFC on the same day?

Yes.you can book them on same day. I did the same but i had to go through lot of stress bcoz of it.. medical didnt get done on time..i requested the doctor i'll be back in half hour for vaccination..luckley they agreed to do it after i came back from the ofc...😞make sure you book the medical in the morning and Ofc around 3 or 4 pm..(my medical was at 8:30 am,OFC at 1:30 pm) there were lot of people for medical on that day and my file was stuck at the end that made the delay...
