She lived in that village that I showed you till she was like 15. Then lived in a newer village, that I showed you, till she was 18. Then in K.L. For 3 months. Not a care in the world.

She met me like the week she came off the boat here, when she was 18. She never even had to go apply for her own cell phone. She still has the same number from 2002 when I got her first cell phone for her. I got her the first credit card she ever had. Before we were married, she lived with her aunt. When my in laws came, she lived with them. When that family needed help with anything, I did everything.

She married into house and home, medical and dental. I pay all the bills, I do all the finances and taxes, etc...

So...yeah...she's not too good at filling out any kind of forms. No less file a petition...

She does know how to return something to Macy's lol

Speaking about forms. I really should get cracking on them I-130s.

And, my wife's brother in Malaysia....

If you remember "Mr. Malaysia is great".

Remember? Then I asked him how many countries he's been to? He said, "Malaysia and Thailand".

Anyway, he keeps sending me the front side of my in law's birth certificate. I'm like, I need front and back. He keeps telling me, there's nothing on the back.

I keep telling him, I need front and back! The USCIS wants to see the back with nothing on it!

<sigh> FFS...Mr I've seen the world...

Thank God for that! lol

For La Colombiana it's been a process. To be sure, she was 27 when I met her and she had managed on her own in Colombia for years, but when she got to the US I had to do everything for her, even the simplest of customer service actions. Slowly but surely these last 3 years she is more and more independent and now she's pretty invested in being a co-equal on household budgeting as well, which is huge for me.

If Malaysia is so great then why are you filing an i-130 for him? [something tells me logic is not part of the answer]

You weren't with the thread back in 2013. I visited Malaysia (and HK) with the wife and kid.

It was her first return in over a decade.

Anyway, among my discoveries was that my brother in law was really narrow minded at the time. He was what, 22?

In short, I told him that in his life, he has always been a second class citizen, and discriminated against (ethnic Chinese in Malaysia do not have the same rights as an ethnic Malay), and he has never experienced freedom and equality. And he can't possibly comprehend what that feels like.

He has since changed his tune, likely because of word from friends and relatives abroad.

The I-130s for my wife's 3 remaining siblings there were filed in 2012.

At that time, my BIL said he didn't want to come. My in-laws told him he has seen very little.

In these past 6 years, he has changed to "I can hardly wait".

Ok, granted, life isn't bad there. My in laws are fairly wealthy now (by means of working in the US), but hey...Malaysia sucks...
