I've heard the drs say on occasion: I wish the pets would come in with a note saying what's wrong so I don't have to deal with the people.  

 

I feel bad for pets though honestly. 

They come to the vet, and are healthy so thusly are poked and prodded and go home sore from vaccines or blood tests and a rectal thermometer.  They have no idea everyone is happy that dog is healthy.

Alternatively, they come to the vet, feel like poo, and we poke and prod them until they feel better. Sometimes give them injections or use large needles to give fluids. They go home feeling like poo but soon perk up and feel better.  Pets do not associate the feel better with the vet.

In total.. pets hate the vet regardless of how many treats we give them while telling owners they need to put their pudgy munchkin on a diet.

Saturday ES report, see man:

 

Went to Many (2+1) itineraried ESs plus a drive-by, investigate we man.

None had anything of the slightest interest, yawn man.

Great way to end the year 201Many, yawn man; however, we corralled some fabulous stuff, whee man.

The repaired Mrs.-T-B.-mobile performed flawlessly during the zero-take ES journey earlier, relief man.

The casa-cleaning is as complete as a targeted action could be, imperfect-but-acceptable man.

Cat is on typewriter chair, snoring loudly, zzz miu man.

We are killing approximately an hour before leaving to de-airport Mrs. T-B. & Mini-B., chauffeur* we man.

 

*Jeeves and Smedley are both purely on the POTS-company payroll, can't use for personal business man

 

Mrs. T-B. sounds quite eager to come back, ready she man.

She asked us, "Did you miss us?"

We replied, "We missed Mini-B., but the rubias are mad and won't leave the casa," frank we man.

 

Flight actually left gate early and is projected to arrive Many minutes early, amazing from a Nueva York airport man.

Our fizzicle therapist is back in town and inquired as to our welfare, concerned she man.

We sent her our MRI/x-ray reports, see she man.

Her opening reply, reply she man:  "Uhhhhh, yes, things look a bit tight in your spine!"

 

Her hubby is a retired orthopedic surgeon, knowledgeable she & he man.

She suggests that maybe he can come with her to do an exam/eval and look at MRI CD, wow man!

It would be worth it at any cost*, captive audience man.

 

Edit:  She says that he'll do it for free, whee man!

This is definitely true. Our 2.5 yr old dog went to the vet for only the 2nd time in his short life yesterday (we did his original shots at a spay/neuter clinic). The dog started shivering violently as soon as he was in the examination room. He must have been remembering everything from the time before including anesthesia and a cut made in his face to remove some infection and debris.

 

Of course he has the same reaction at Petsmart for the times we take him there for grooming. Pets get their feel goods elsewhere.

Mrs. T-B. & Mini-B. are de-airported and re-casa'd, full house beats a straight man.

 

Flight was Many (2x2x2) minutes late leaving, and Many (2x2x2x2-1) minutes late gating, OK for Nueva York man.

 

Everyone was ravenous upon de-airporting, pre-ingest man.

Mini-B. voted for Burger King, wee majority rules man.

However, we had left our coupons in the T-B.-mobile, placed there during Mrs.-T-B.-mobile repairs man.

 

We were inconsolable, depressed we man.

What an outrageous waste to pay full price for anything, utterly senseless man.

 

We overcame this somewhat after casa arrival, beeline for Xmas presents by wee man.

He enjoyed everything, appreciative wee man.

 

Mrs. T-B. (and Mini-B.) blown away by cleanliness of casa, success for we man.

At least for now, she appears willing to give us our anniversary present, fix our stinkin' watch man.

Nothing like timeless gifts, ha ha man.

I got the "Charlie the ranch dog" series of books for reading with turtle. 

 

One of them is "Charlie goes to the doctor". I think it took away some of her fears of the doctor.

I have zero doubts about it.  We try to keep death to a particular place but I know the animals can instantly when they're in that room. 

Some breeds are terrified of life.  Rarely do we have a lab or golden that comes in that is scared.  Some dogs are more likely to be fear aggressive. 

I think most pets feed off their owners emotions.  People are nervous at the dr.  We try to make things as easy as possible.  Some of the doctors will do EVERYTHING in a room, vaccines, blood draws, bandage changes, ear cleanings etc... If it makes both people and animals more happy.  Other doctors will do everything in treatment regardless.  And others will do as needed for each pet.  Sometimes pets are aggressive with owners and are perfect in treatment.  Some need drugs.  Cats respond REALLY well to drugs at the vet.  Some we can't even touch, but with a pre-visit sedation drug, they're fantastic and we can get everything done.  Thankfully cats only need vaccines every 3 years!  As seniors we'd like to do yearly blood work though. 

 

We are working towards becoming a fear free clinic. Several of our doctors are already certified.  You can tell because they're the ones who will do everything in a room. 

 

It's not like my pets aren't immune to being scared either.  My dog shivers whenever I trim his nails at work and my cat hates his blood drawn, which has to happen every 6 months right now.  Both of them have heart issues too.  Only my jerkface cat is healthy, if pudgy.  Thankfully since he's the most difficult to deal with.

Our dog goes into help mode if he senses disagreement btwn my wife and I, anxiety from my wife, or illness from either of us. He's just good at sensing if things are not going smoothly for any of us. Sensitive little guy. And help mode can actually be helpful. If you're lying on your stomach he'll walk his 8.5 pound frame up and down your back. Almost as good as a massage. My wife says he's a real comfort when she's experiencing anxiety, too.
