I had the Nolavirus I tell ya. Both my kids had it in the past 2 weeks. And dozens of kids in school, as well as the schools nearby.

The NYC Dept of Education just robocalled me to tell me that the kids won't be allowed in school past January 4th if they don't have their flu shots. Which they do have already.

Ibuprofen is a pain reliever/ fever reducer, and without fever you won't get chills.

Try like a double dose of Tylenol too.

The Troll got it this morning. It has been going around here too. I was feeling nauseous the other day, but didn’t throw up, so hopefully it passed me and baby over.

Gosh, Eh ma'am... don't rip yourself up too badly, no ma'am.  You have your own life to live and lead, si ma'am.

Is it possible for her home to be made "safer" for her if she were to fall again, huh man?

Is there someone who could check in on her?  Or does "home care" encompass that, huh man?

The ultimate solution is "don't get old," sigh man.

Short of carpeting the floor with bubble wrap, I don't know. She has a home help aide that comes in twice a day, every day, in the morning and again late in the afternoon. She has neighbors who check up on her, bring in her mail, take out her rubbish bin to the kerb. She has a medical alarm pendant she can use to summon help is she needs it.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Personally i think being around your own things is the way to go.  My grandma died peacefully at home, at 92.  She refused to go into care as well.  I think when there is little comfort in your life, you need the things that make you feel like you have some control.

Is there anyway to have home care make her home more appropriate for her? Like a bed on the main level or moving clutter?

She is on the main floor, one story houses seems the norm there. There really isn't a lot of clutter in the way of getting around. Her main clutter

is books. Thousands of them, shelved two and three deep, most flat surfaces are littered with them.  Other than books, she isn't a collector of anything much.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Oh wow that's a hard place to be :(

I'm off the opinion that if she can get the support she needs then home is the place to be but if that level of home support isn't there then hard decisions have to be made.

It is in no way your fault, you have nothing to be feeling guilty about and I bet she'd be mad at you if she knew...

Keeping you both in my thoughts (hug)

She has had the home help twice a day for over two years now. It's a way to keep people out of the rest home, being more cost-effective.  I don't know, but will ask, if there isn't some sort of support that can fill in a bit of time in the middle of the day. She is on her own all day, unless someone drops in, and all night.  Mind you, she really really prefers her own company. She doesn't care for a lot of people trooping in and out. She certainly does miss her little dog, who has been with the boarder place out of town since the fall. She really wanted him back home, but given recent events, she left him there, until things even out. If they ever do.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Everyone I know who had it, lasted 1 day, so I think you're good.

My older kid faired the best. Didn't throw up either. But you can see that she wanted to...

Poor little Dutch, I hope he gets better soon.

There seems to be lots of this going around.  I can't get the flu shot, I am allergic to it, but I make sure Himself gets in every year.  Even given that he got the shot, he felt a bit off last week, aches and pains and nausea. It's only an issue if he does vomit because that puts his anti=rejection drugs at risk.  So far, I'm good. Neither of us have much contact with people on a daily basis, which might help.

We all got the flu shot this year, so this is something different.

I have a theory on why so much spreads around our small town so quickly - we all use the same 2 or so grocery carts at the market and the same key pads and doors.  It isn’t long before everyone has been exposed.
