So many kids in the kid's school was sick that they had to check the other schools to see if they were having the same problem. 10% of the kids are absent or went home early in the last 3 school days. And it's the same everywhere.

The older kid got sick last week. The little turtle today.

But it seems that everyone was sick for 1 day...

So my niece ended up in the hospital with pneumonia.  She was on O2 for 5 days and then released on day 8.  Went home and several days later had a seizure.  My mom convinced my brother and SIL to meet an ambulance on the drive (it's 45 mins plus to the hospital if you drive yourself.)  I guess she almost died when they took her down with pneumonia.   She had a CAT scan and there was no swelling on the brain so it wasn't a febrile seizure.  Found out yesterday she was diagnosed with epilepsy.  Poor girl.

Hubs didn't want to go to my work Christmas party.  I was going to go alone but the joy was sucked out of the day and he was being a bit of a annoyance about it all.  Like you can tell when someone doesn't want you to do something but doesn't want to say please don't do this thing.  I don't get what the big deal was but it was a big deal.  Apparently the food wasn't that great, there were a bunch of drunk people, and likely I wouldn't have had fun anyhow but I had to have conversations I didn't enjoy at all to get the truth out. UGH

So far the weekend has sucked.. on the plus side, since I need a plus side, my camera performed fantastically at the doggy and cat photos I took on Saturday at work.

I am so sorry to hear that!

How old is she?

I know how hard it is for the patient and the family to deal with epilepsy!

My husband has had it for over 13 years and it came out of nowhere. He still has to take big time medications and it‘s just really hard to accept it.

So, I hope you guys can still enjo some of the holidays and I hope she feels better soon!

Big virtual hugs to you and your family!

She's 4.  So it will take a lot of adjustment for the family, but at least they can teach her good habits from the start that help her manage it.  Likely it was caused by her almost dying from pneumonia.

My stepfather, in all of his idiocy, mentioned that marijuana can help control epilepsy. I told my mother, a 4 year old isn't about to start smoking pot and while CBD oil has been found to help some children, it isn't a cure all.   Diet seems to be helpful as well as getting enough sleep.  Either way I know they will find a way.  My sister has done amazingly well with my nephew who as at least Asperger's if not Autism.  (He's been diagnosed with severe OCD.)  He likely will never live on his own though.  It kinda makes me glad in a weird way that I only had one child.  Seems like in my immediate family if you have more than one, you will have a child who is special needs.  My full sister has Down Syndrome. She just turned 40.  She barely talks, but is happy, which is the main thing.

I have done enough to mess up my kid, I am glad I only had one to give issues to.

Try a higher quality food and giving less of it.  Diabetes in cats isnt fun.  Get her weight down?

I have two litterboxes and I swear they're used the instant they're cleaned.

My stepfather, in all of his idiocy, mentioned that marijuana can help control epilepsy. I told my mother, a 4 year old isn't about to start smoking pot and while CBD oil has been found to help some children, it isn't a cure all.

CBD oil has little to no THC, which is the psychoactive chemical in marijuana. Some states require CBD oil to be produced ONLY from hemp, which has a significantly lower THC content, and not marijuana, and even then, all traces of THC are usually removed in the processing of the plant into oil.

Of course, you're right, it isn't a cure-all. However, if it comes to relief for your child's suffering, wouldn't you consider it as a viable option, alongside actual medical treatment? While I wouldn't recommend any child smoking pot EVER, nor do I do so myself (I can't stand the taste or smell), drops, salves, and ointments made with CBD oil have proven to be beneficial. Even gummies, like the Flintstones Vitamin gummies have shown to be useful.

But to each their own, this is a strongly debated topic for sure.

This is for Canada not the USA btw.

I think CBD can be beneficial but not smoking pot like he suggested.
