STATUE

 

       An old lady went to the city park every day to gaze longingly at the statue of the handsome Confederate general, all the while wishing that she could have known him.

Ours is 8 pounds dripping wet. The only one getting uncomfortable is he when I roll over in my sleep and squash him. Still, he keeps coming back night after night. Must be a masochist.

Two weeks ago I had a process server at the door trying to serve the woman who lives at the drug house. She wasn't home, nobody was. I've just now had to heavily armed flak-jacketed Probation Officers at the door looking for the same person. I had to show my ID for heaven's sake to prove I wasn't her.

 

We took the address numbers off the house when we had the new siding put up. Now that all the paint is dry on the trim, my mission tomorrow is to get the new ones up there. Don't want anyone to mistake this house for theirs in the middle of the night.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

WOW! They should know better if the first guy came asking about the house. 

 

Make sure you put up those numbers fast. Oh better make sure they are well lit at night too. I can see that being pretty darn scary.

The first guy said he was trying to serve "property papers'. We thought she might be being evicted. He was about 70, dressed casually and a retired cop he said.

These two were altogether different. A young man and woman, in uniform and visibly armed. All business.

 

They have left, and empty-handed. The property backs on a wooded area, and while they were quizzing me, a male at the right address was standing outside watching. She might have legged it. I guess they will try again. Her car is still over there, so if she's gone bush, she is on foot.

 

Himself is out there as we speak, putting the new ones up. They are reflective at least. 

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
