The Department of Driver Services provides a one-time 120-day extension for any non-citizen who meets the following requirements:

  • Must be an existing DDS Customer - currently hold a Georgia DL, Permit, or ID Card.
  • The Georgia license, permit or Identification card must have expired or must be expiring within thirty (30) days
  • Must provide proof of having requested an extension for time to remain lawfully within the United States by presenting an original I-797C Notice of Action and expired immigration documents.

Get an Info pass first. Wait until Midnight, once your clock strikes 12 am, get on the USCIS website and schedule an appointment for the earliest date. Go to that appointment with all USCIS correspondence explain and they will stamp your passport. Then, schedule an appointment online with GA Dept. of Driver Services, fill in the online form under DL Renewal, print your confirmation and go to the DSS with your passport, expired DL. They should issue a new DL valid for the duration of the I551 stamp! I don't know where you live in Ga but if in Metro, i'll suggest you go to Beaver Ruin DSS. Thanks, hope it works out for you.
