Background: My Wife come on K1 in July and we got married last week.  I’m waiting for the certificate to come in the mail so I can file the AOS.  In the meanwhile I got a new job offer in Milwaukee and we are moving from Seattle next week.

So now I’m wondering if we should go though and change all the address information form Seattle to Milwaukee or just leave it alone.  Also, I’m worried that if we don’t update we will have to go back to San Francisco for the interview, when Chicago would be where we actually live.

Any advice?

Yes. But I’m thinking it may slow the process since we have all our passports/paperwork at the same address.  Would I need to update everything?

if youre moving everything has to be updated anyways. you dont want any paperwork for her AOS to go to a state youre not even living in, or for an interview to be scheduled there. AOS is a whole new process. youre done with the K1, and on to the next, with its own set of paperwork and info.

It seems like a big hassle, I done it myself and I was only moving down the street but you are legally obliged to inform USCIS of address change within a certain amount of days of moving.

After all if you are making a permanent move why would you want to hang onto an old address, it makes no sense.... and that is the exact reason USCIS don’t like it

If you sign up for the government tracker service, which is applied to your case number not your address then that way you can see that any mail produced by USCIS needs locating.... old address or new address so to speak

there really isn’t that much connected to your case that needs doing

USCIS given address on your file

drivng licence

they are the essentials

when you consider you will have to change utilities etc so it’s not a biggy it happens the whole time and USCIS realise with changes of jobs comes changes of address

hope this helps and good luck

I probably should have clarified that I have a business in Seattle and still have access to the old mailing address.  But what you say makes sense, and it will be easier to make changes now vs. later down the road.
