Maryland Shooting Leaves Multiple People Dead; Suspect in Custody

“The lone suspect in the shooting is in custody and has been hospitalized in critical condition, Sheriff Gahler said. The person carried out the attack with a single weapon, a handgun.

“There were no shots fired by any of the law enforcement officers responding to the scene,” the sheriff said. “We do not believe that there is an additional threat.”

Female suspect is dead.

Know the area pretty well and had tons of people this morning texting me if everyone in the family was okay. This is the second workplace shooting near that area this year. Was kind of disturbed to hear that floor managers told nearby employees to just keep working.

Her FB page is pretty well locked down.  Wonder if she was just off her meds, or if it was a revenge thing?  Or if we will ever know??

Hard to say. It appears she was a transitioning female to male taking various hormone treatments. No prior history of mental illness but I wonder what those treatments might do to someone who has a prior undiagnosed mental illness. Just speculating.

Small update: police conference this morning says she was diagnosed with a mental illness several years ago, but still managed to obtain a firearm. Family members were growing increasingly concerned about her mental state this week...
