Trying to find information on the Montreal embassy website, but can’t seem to find anything specific. Is it 6 months or 12 months?

I believe it needs to be issued within 1 year of your view appointment!

This is what it says on the checklist for packet 3 K1 visa (I can't imagine it being different for IR-1/CR-1):

"Police certificates from each country in which the applicant has resided for 6 months or longer since the age of 16. Canadian police certificate(s) must be issued within one year of the visa appointment."
