NVC - Affidavit of support forms I-864 & I-8644A

Hello

My wife and I are currently gathering the required documents to submit to the NVC. My question was concerning the Affidavit of Support. I will be using both of my parents who make more than enough for the required amount with regard to the number of members in the household. That said, do I, the petitioner, also have to submit the I-864? I only ask because I have been a student for the more than the past year, and even though I work/have worked part-time, my income was/is currently a derisory amount. So once again, is it required that I submit the form, even if I will use the I-864A, Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member, for both of my parents?

Thanks

As the petition you are required to submit an I-864 even if you don't meet the income requirements.

If you currently reside with your parents, you can have them file a household agreement (I-864A) to combine their incomes/assets with yours.

If you do not currently reside with them, one parent will file an I-864. The other, assuming they file taxes together, should submit an I-864A as their household member.

This is correct but even if living together, use option two UNLESS the petitioner's income needs to be COMBINED with that of the parents to qualify.  If the parents DO qualify on their own, do NOT combine the petitioner's income with the joint sponsor's.
