Hi to all, today I will have at 2pm (mountain time) my infopass appointment at least to try to obtain an Emergency AP because my father will be under a brain surgery next Jun 28. I filled an AOS+EAD+AP two weeks ago and I have an approval notice of my H-1B so I will go to see my father and get my H-1B Visa in Caracas's Embassy (I have my appointment next Jun 27). In any case I want to have the AP just in case (because I could return with the H-1B without affect my AOS process).

I will go to the appointment with a Hospital letter with all detail of my father's surgery and why they recommend that all his family be with him in that moment, copy of the NOA1 of the I-131 and copy of cashed check of my bank.

If any of you have any other recommendation before leave to the appointment will be nice!

I will post the review tomorrow of my experience with Infopass.

I think if you have a letter from the hospital, explaining about your father's surgery, you should be fine. You are giving them good notice also.

I just wanted to wish you a safe journey and hope that your father does well. You will be in my prayers.

I recently went back home as my father also had surgery - it is a very stressful time for everyone concerned. Having family around, and the love they bring, will help your father cope and give him strength to get through this.

Take Care.

Girona, Thanks!! I hope your father is Ok now. My father is 72 years old but is strong I believe everything will be fine. I only want to have the AP right now to think only in my travel and give the news to my family.

A question for everybody:

I already paid the fee when I sent my I-131 two weeks ago and I have some doubts for everybody: Do I need to go with another I-131 and another payment or with a copy of my original form, the NOA1 and check will be OK?

Thanks!

Hi Gustahot. You don't need another Form I-131.... you are fine with everything you are bringing. My prayers and best wishes to you and your family.

Thanks for keep in touch. Well... bad luck... After wait my turn (about 1 hour) the girl told me that I need to wait at least 2 weeks to apply for an Emergency AP because is too early (the receipt notice of the I-131 is May 7)AND if I will apply for that then I need to go next time with the Birth Certificate to compare the name in the Hospital Letter (about my father's surgery) to see if is really my father... :-(

To everyone that want an Emergency AP you need the hospital letter, birth certificate, copy of I-313 payment (if you already paid that) and copy of the I-131.

I drove 1 hour from my home to that office and 1 hours to come back for nothing... (plus one hour waiting inside the office)

They girl told to come one week before my flight if no news about my first AP application.

I will continue with my stress until I have the AP in hand before my father's surgery and flight reservation.

Gustahot, that news isn't all bad, aside from the frustration of spending half your day trying to get the emergency AP (which is significant, I admit!). It sounds you weren't issued the emergency AP because (1) you were missing a required document or two, and (2) you requested it too early. I think that the CIS person suggested you wait a few more weeks because it's possible that your AP will arrive before you depart, and/or maybe she can't issue you an emergency AP when your travel date is a few weeks away. From what I understand, emergency APs are usually issued for immediate travel. It sounds like you will be issued an emergency AP when you return to the immigration office closer to your father's surgery date--that is, if your AP hasn't arrived before then.

Yeah now that I'm more relaxed I think the same. I will wait two weeks and I will return with everything. I want to avoid any excuses next time.

Thanks to keep in touch with my situation.
