I called the NVC yesterday and they gave us our case number. 

My question is,  do we have to wait on the letter from NVC to start paying fees and to start the process moving forward?

You do not have to wait for the letter. If you have your case number you can start the process. That's what i did too 🙂

You can track your case number at https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx once it says “ready” then you can already move to your next step. But be aware that every embassy is different. Once your case reached to your specific embassy, the embassy will send the beneficiary Packet 3 where it states the instructions and the needed requirements for her to comply.

Since the beneficiary is from the Philippines, just tracked down your case number and wait til it’s status becomes “ready” and you can already pay your fee. Guess @Greenbaum has insights...

Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get done. To smooth that trail for you I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

 

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Not all Embassy's allow the applicant to start without the letter and their permission. Philippines is one that allows the applicant to proceed with payment, scheduling and medical.

 

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy.
